Please note that no more than 10 guests are permitted to stay at our property at any time. Licensed by Talbot County, MD #ST-264-VAN Welcome to Painted Sky! Only a 90 minute drive from DC or Baltimore, and just over two hours from Philadelphia, upon arrival at Painted Sky, you'll feel about a million miles away from the hectic pace of city life. Whether you prefer an active vacation or are seeking complete relaxation, your needs will be met in this special spot. Suggested Outdoor Activities: Go for a relaxing swim in the pool. Take a kayak (one of two) and explore the coastline or the island across from the property. Or challenge yourself to row all the way over to St. Michaels. Take a paddle board (one of two) out for a spin on the river. Throw in some crab lines or cast a fishing rod from the dock and catch your own dinner (Chesapeake Bay rockfish--yum!). Play bocce, basketball, soccer, corn hole or any of the other numerous outdoor games provided. Take any of four bikes and ride five miles into the quaint town of St. Michaels, where you can explore the shops, get an ice cream cone or sample craft beers and wines at the local brewery/winery. Try one of the gourmet restaurants in Easton or St. Michaels or just grab a casual bite at one of the plentiful coffee shops or outdoor cafes. Hit the weekly Farmer's Markets in either St. M. or Easton and pick up some delicious local delicacies. Visit the historic Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels. Continue past St. Michaels and go all the way down to scenic Tilghman Island. Catch the Ferry from Bellevue (6 mile drive) across the Tred Avon and explore the quaint town of Oxford. Drive to Cambridge (about 30-35 minutes) and visit the fascinating Harriet Tubman Museum and Educational Center. Don't miss the fantastic Sunday brunch at "t at the General Store", just 3 miles away in Royal Oak (reservations strongly recommended in the summer!). Sit in a lounge chair or lie in the hammock and gaze out at the sailboats on the sparkling Miles River. Take a stroll or go for a jog around the neighborhood (almost no car traffic). Catch (or buy) some local crabs and use the outdoor kitchen to steam them with some Old Bay and vinegar. Incredibly delicious! Sunsets, sunsets, sunsets!!! The broad western views across the Miles provide the most spectacular sunsets you can imagine! Sit on an Adirondack chair by the water and watch as the sky and water continue to change in the fading light. Build a fire in the firepit and make s'mores while watching the moonlight shine across the water. Indoor Activities: Shoot a game of pool on the 9-foot pool table. Challenge someone to a game of Foosball. Grab a novel from the bookshelves and get lost in a book (kids books provided too). Sit on the porch and play any of the numerous board games provided. Make use of the broadband wi-fi to surf the web or catch up on emails. Enjoy your favorite tunes with the speaker system. Catch up on TV shows or watch a movie with one of the four Smart TV's provided. Whip up a gourmet meal in the fully-equipped chef's kitchen. Take a nap on a luxury mattress in any of the five bedrooms. Soak in the jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom. Guests have use of the entire 2.5 acre property, with the exception of the owner's closet in the master bedroom, which is locked. The middle of the house contains most of the common areas, including the kitchen, the living room, the dining room and the pool table room. The living room opens onto a covered porch with retractable screens and easy access to the pool and the outdoors. The south-facing side of the house has four bedrooms---a gigantic Master Suite, with incredible water views, a king-sized bed and an ensuite bathroom with a separate shower, jacuzzi tub and toilet/bidet. The Bunk Room contains two sets of bunk beds, and shares a hallway bathroom (double sinks, shower and tub) with the King Room, which has a king-sized bed and under-bed storage. The King Ensuite Room has a king-sized bed and bathroom with a shower. The north-facing side of the house contains a mud room, a powder room, a laundry room, a two-car garage and a Playroom, equipped with a queen-sized sofabed, a Smart TV and a foosball table. There is also a second Master Suite, with awesome views of the water, a king-sized bed, a cedar closet and an ensuite bathroom with a shower. Though I don't live in the area full-time, I do have a property manager who lives nearby and is available 24/7 to help with any needs or issues that may arise during your stay. Her contact information will be made available upon check-in. I am also generally available via Airbnb, text, email or phone should you have any questions during your stay. Our neighborhood is made up of single-family homes on larger lots, and is quiet and peaceful. It is easily accessible to both Easton and St. Michaels, which are both five miles away in opposite directions. Easton Just off the St. Michaels Road (Rte. 33) in Easton, there is a shopping center with a Target, a large Harris Teeter grocery store, a BJ's wholesale club and a Dick's Sporting Goods. Town and Country Liquors is also conveniently located on the road to Easton. The historic downtown area of Easton is wonderful, with several excellent restaurants and the Avalon Theater, which hosts regional and national performances by musicians of all genres, as well as comedy shows, screenings of documentaries and live performances of the Metropolitan Opera. From mid-April to mid-December, you can get the best local produce, and many other seasonal delicacies at the Farmer's Market downtown (100 block of North Harrison St.) every Saturday from 8 am til 1 pm, with live music from 10:30-12:30. St. Michaels Just a few miles down Route 33, there is a grocery store on the left side of the road called Graul's Market. (Tip: You can get a great cup of coffee at the RiseUp Coffee drive-through in the parking lot!) A bit further into town on the right hand side of the street is the Village Shoppe, with great meats, cheeses, produce, wines and a garden shop. St. Michaels also has a seasonal Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings from 8:30 til 11:30 at 204 S. Talbot Street. St. Michaels is full of unique little shops for clothing, gifts, home decor, art, antiques, etc. Browsing the shops in town is a favorite activity. There are also bike shops, boat and sightseeing tours, museums, spas and salons and many other attractions. The Eastern Shore has developed a reputation for fine dining as well, with many highly-rated restaurants in near proximity. We provide a book containing our family's local recommendations at the house for our guests, and welcome any questions that you may have about things to do during your stay. During the summer, and on popular weekends like the Waterfowl Festival or the Wine Festival, it is strongly recommended to make advance reservations, since places book fairly quickly. The area is mostly accessible via car (unless you come by boat!). We provide four bikes for riding on the less-traveled, scenic roads in the area or to ride into St. Michaels for dining, shopping or just walking around. There are very few taxis and Ubers around, so best to have access to a car during your stay. All bed linens and bath and pool towels will be provided, as well as shampoo, blow dryers, a few rolls of toilet paper and paper towels, dish and dishwasher soap, laundry detergent, basic kitchen spices, etc. We also have firewood available for the fire pit. During the summer season, there are lawn and pool maintenance people who will come to do their jobs on a regular weekly schedule which will be provided upon check-in. Guests will be asked to put out trash and recycling on collection day.
