This is a lovely cabin in the woods - sitting next to my home.( about 150 feet away) The area could be described as "rustic"- insofar as it IS the Oklahoma Osage Hills- 20 miles via a nice drive into Tulsa. Also about 45 minutes from Pawhuska, Oklahoma, home of the Osage Nation - and the Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond. The view is overlooking the Osage Hills of Oklahoma. You can be as private as you want, or hike, drive to the lake, kayak. Peaceful and serene. Perfect for rural- loving folks. The cabin is one room, has a full kitchen, and a separate bathroom with shower and a small closet. It has one double bed and 2 comfy chairs. ( Ikea ) The road up to the cabin and my place is gravel, and relatively steep. Guests will need to walk about 100 feet to the cabin from their car. It is a short, level, lighted walk. At the time being, the cabin has no wifi, but you can get it at my place, or outside of the cabin. The view is lovely, and the quiet in the woods is peaceful. There are no neighbors around my place and the cabin. We live way up the hill, away from neighbors. I have one large, very friendly, dog and one cat. They are free roaming, but will not bother you. Please note: this is a cabin IN THE WOODS. If you are used to a neatly trimmed , tidy, insect free landscape environment, this space is NOT for you. Osage county is filled with wildflowers, tall natural grasses, and I keep it as natural as possible. There are occasional insects that get in the cabin in the summer. . I do not use harmful pesticides and insecticides. I keep wasps as controlled as possible, but they occasionally get around the cabin, as well as my house. I have fly swatters to use. Please-if you are menstruating, use something to protect my bedding from getting stained. I have had to buy new bedding twice - and the guests did not even tell me. I know this is a touchy topic, but please be considerate. If you stain the sheets or the bedding you will need to pay for new ones. Sorry to be so tough but I’ve gotten fooled twice by guests not telling me Guests are welcome to use the washer and dryer at my house, walk and hike in the woods, and enjoy the surroundings I am an active senior. I am in and out during the day. Swimming, hiking in the woods here (you can too!), choir, playing music, kyacking. I will always be available by text or phone, and, when I am here, I may be available to show you around. - . I have 4 kayaks. Presently my kayak trailer is being repaired. You are welcome to use the kayaks—and paddles if you have a truck or trailer to tow them with or in. The skiatook Lake has good fishing and kayaking and it is only a few miles away. I can leave you completely alone if that is what you chose. Your call. Skiatook is a small town. There is an Italian restaurant, Luigi's, and Senor Salso, Famous Mac’s barBQ, Brown Cow.Also the Osage Casino. I am very near Tulsa, where you can get ANY kind of great food in the Downtown, Brady area. Gilcrease Museum, Bob Dylan Museum, The Church Studio, Cain’s Ballroom, The Woody Guthrie Museum, Philbrook Museum, The Gathering Place, and The Discovery Lab( world famous museum) are all areas of great national interest in Tulsa. The bike trail is in Skiatook, a few miles away. It goes all the way into Tulsa, as well as north. ( You will have to haul your bike to the trail, a few miles away, as my road is too qsteep to ride down on your bike) Pawhuska, home of the Mercantile ( Ree Drummond) and the Osage Nation, ( Osage Tribal Museum) as well as the Joseph H Williams Tallgrass Prairie Preserve ( largest tract of Tallgrass prairie in the world, owned by the Nature Conservancy) are a short hour's drive to the north. Skiatook Lake is within a mile. It has great boating, fishing and swimming. In Skiatook We have Walmart ( of course), Tractor Supply and a few ma and pop diners. Tulsa has it all: Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, Trader Joe's, and the rest. There are many hiking trails in Tulsa also- Turkey Mountain, Redbud valley. In Oklahoma, we're still mostly about cars. There is the walking trail in Skiatook, which is also a bike trail, so you can walk on a nice trail for miles in either direction. Remember, this is a rural setting- a space in the woods. Also, you must walk about 100 feet to the cabin from the drive. Also: IMPORTANT: I live in Osage county, in the Crosstimbers adjacent to the TallGrass Prairie. In the spring and early summer there are numerous beneficial forbes springing up- pollinators such as milk weed and butterfly plant. So- I let them grow in the sunny space in front of and around the cabin, rather than weedeating and keeping a close cropped landscape. I will weedeat later in summer. Enjoy! Please read the manual.
