Your gorgeous bedroom is comfortably appointed with antiques and art. We are fine artists who love music and Bristol history. Our Victorian home was built and designed by artist and musician Charlotte West in 1891; the fireplace surrounds are by Capitol pediment sculptor, Isaac Broome. The interior doors, casements, floors and staircases are made of heart pine. Eleven foot ceilings, transom windows and a fireplace in every room add to its beauty and charm. Charlotte had the finest taste in decoration and the pocketbook to make her vision a reality. We are so lucky to live in this beautiful home and look forward to sharing it with you! You will be staying in a beautiful downstairs bedroom with private access to the downstairs bath near the kitchen (originally the butler's pantry; it has been recently remodeled, with the original wainscoting intact.) You may use the kitchen for Keurig coffee, beverages and refrigerator. Parking is available on our little backyard area accessible through our alley. We have lived in downtown Bristol since 2001. Neil taught photography at Virginia Intermont College and led the official photographers team for the Bristol Rhythm and Roots festival for over ten years. We definitely know the ins and out of the festival and can help you make the most of your visit to downtown. I am a musician and so grateful to live in this music mecca! We have a new brewery within walking distance and a great 24 hour bakery just two blocks away! There are wonderful opportunities to enjoy our gorgeous mountains and we can direct you to the best spots to hike and photograph. Historic downtown Bristol VA/TN is teeming with great places to enjoy. Our famous Bristol Rhythm and Roots Festival is 2 blocks away! Restaurants, bars, antique shops, clothing shops, art galleries, a great new library, coffee shops, the Blackbird Bakery, the fantastic new (Smithsonian affiliate) Birthplace of Country Music Museum. Our own little historic neighborhood is the Solar Hill Historic District; filled with homes of the turn of the 20th century, it is a lovely place to walk and enjoy. Our location is just seven miles from the Bristol Speedway, if Nascar action is your thing we are SO close. Book Early if you plan to attend the historic football game! We are, of course, just steps away from the downtown. There is a bus service, but not useful for sightseeing or getting out in the mountains and countryside. A car is practically essential for getting around our region. The private bath is not adjacent to the room, it is down the hall. Formerly the butler's pantry, it has now been transformed into a luxurious bathroom. We have two happy labrador retrievers - they are very obedient and friendly, bathed and cared for like the family they are. Our accommodations are not suitable for children.
