Pristine Lake Cabin in Maine
A spacious one of a kind cabin perched on a red pine bluff overlooking a picturesque loon lake with excellent fishing. Day trip to scenic coast for lobster! -lakefront porch -private dock -hammock -canoe -peaceful The space Covid Update: We are committed to making sure our cabin is a clean and safe place to relax. With this in mind we are limiting rental to smaller groups in 2020. Thank you for understanding. We look forward to more “normal” bookings in 2021. A unique and spacious wood cabin designed and built by my brother with a beautiful cathedral ceiling on a very special red pine bluff. The cabin has a large loft and two private bedrooms with two bathrooms. The large kitchen provides the perfect place to cook and is stocked with everything you might need, including a large pot for lobster. Throughout the years we have added small amenities like a coffee pot and a bullet blender. Our large dining table is perfect for large family dinners or game nights (we have games and puzzles). Beach towels, bath towels, linens, soap, dishwasher are provided. A laundromat is close by. Lake Pocomoonshine has cabins only along one shoreline, limiting lake use; boats are either canoes, kayaks or fishing boats. The lake is located in the more remote NE corner of Maine. We will provide you with a map of the lake, including favorite fishing reef/holes and a lovely boat trip through a main stream which connects to 3 other lakes (2 pristine lakes and a larger lake with scattered cabins). If that is not enough to keep you busy exploring there is a wildlife refuge nearby. Take a day trip to the Maine coast or Canada. We love Cutler Harbor where the Little Lobster Company lets you choose your lobster fresh out of the salt water. For those ready to simply relax we suggest watching the sunset from the front porch, reading in the hammock, fishing/swimming off the dock or rocky shoreline, and observing the abundant wildlife: eagles, moose, loons, beaver, mink, kingfisher, hummingbirds. In the evenings use the fire pit on the ledge over looking the lake and listen to the loons. You are welcome to bring a fishing boat--public landing just down the road and private dock is yours. Dock chairs available for use. Boat cushions available, but bring your own lifejackets. Cabin is available June through September. June has great fishing but is "buggy". July and August provide all the best of summer (August is usually blueberry season!) and September is beautiful ...part summer/part fall with leaves beginning to turn the end of the month. Woodstove and fire wood for cooler days. Guest access Our property managers live down the road and are available to help with any needs you may have. You are also welcome to call me with any questions or concerns. A description of key access will be provided to allow you to move in upon your arrival. We ask you do not access the small upper loft, as the stairs are very steep. Please use paths on the property to preserve the plant life. We regret no dogs or pets allowed. We know you will appreciate the beauty of our woods. Other things to note After a lot of thought we have decided to keep our cabin as a place to unplug and escape from the everyday ties we all have to technology. So you will not find a TV or WiFi at the cabin. Water at the cabin is lake water and needs boiling before drinking. We will provide two large containers of drinking water and highly recommend bringing further drinking water. If you choose to have a fire in the outdoor fire pit, it is essential to have a water bucket available and someone always in attendance. Fully extinguish the fire before leaving, with coals cool to the touch. Please do not have a fire if it is windy, as the fire risk is too high!
