Description

House in Mendocino wine country, 1:40 hr drive from SF. Arrive to a clean, window-filled, open floorplan, remodeled kitchen & island, fireplace home w/ spectacular mountainside views above soaring birds. Step onto massive deck w/ pool, hot tub, heated shower. Create lifelong memories relaxing, bonding, dining, grilling, cocktailing, working poolside w/ friends & family-couples, solo, kids, pets-on 21 oak & madrone acres. 4 acre fenced in pet area! 03/21 new listing! @ 'Stellar Jay Valley' The space UPDATE: A brand new cooling/heating system installed in the house that keeps home’s inside temperature even more comfortable under all summer and winter conditions. Interior design has also been updated. The house has a bright, open kitchen and island floor plan with incredible views out panel sized windows and sliding glass doors. Perfect for seamless indoor/outdoor living on the 2000 sq ft south-southeast facing redwood deck with a pool, new hot tub, gas grill and even a heated outdoor shower! The 6 person, regularly treated and cleaned heated spa, on the deck overlooking the scenic Bell Valley is perfect any time of year. Watch the soaring birds from eye level glide above the valley floor below from under the branches of an impressive oak tree and warm strings of lights on the deck. Stargaze at night in close to total darkness for seeing new systems while watching shooting stars and satellites move across the night sky. The kitchen is a newly remodeled farmhouse style with new appliances and deep sink, and an island with a stovetop, designed for eating, having cocktails and socializing while cooking. Pool is a regularly treated unheated pool exposed to direct sunlight almost the whole day with a solar cover. The pool is available for guest use most of the (closed Dec through Mar, when the water is far too cold to swim). Please be advised though pool temperature is weather dependent. It is typically a comfortable temperature as early as April to well into October, depending on how hot or cold the recent weather has been and whether/how much it has rained recently. We do have guests that are willing to use it in fall and spring outside these months that are OK with the colder water temperature. Guests are asked to provide advanced notice if they would like to use the pool in March and November, when typically water temperature would be too cool to be comfortable, so the pool can be treated. The hot tub is available all year for use, plus we do have a heated outdoor shower right next to the pool if you do decide to use the pool when the water temperature is cooler to heat back up quickly. Lovely Mediterranean plants dot the hillside next to the deck including blooming olive trees and lavender. Deck edge facing downhill is secured with fencing with other sides open to flat or gently-sloped ground or short set of stairs. There are steep hills once off the deck so small children will require supervision. There is a Weber barbecue grill at the house perfect for outdoor grilling and eating. Please be advised that there is a 400-foot long dirt and rock rough driveway up to the house, steep in parts, which can sometimes be intimidating for drivers not used to driving on rural dirt roads. It is smoothed every year in the early spring and is accessible to normal front-wheel drive vehicles. However please be aware that there is a good chance that you will experience tire spinning while driving up which can be off putting for drivers not accustomed to that, especially during the drier months of the year while the driveway can get dry and dusty and cars can collect dust. We advise to book the house if you are comfortable with potentially experiencing tire spin or parking near the bottom of the driveway and walking or getting a ride up in a 4 wheel drive vehicle, or book one of our other two similar large acreage homes with decks, pool, hot tub and incredible views nearby. So you know, our cleaners drive standard front-wheel drive sedans up the driveway on a regular basis all year including when it is driest from June-October, so it is accessible for front wheel drive vehicles but drivers with minimal experience on rural roads may be reluctant so again please be advised that you may experience tire spin while going up the driveway. We do provide additional guidance on driving up the driveway in front wheel drive cars to avoid tire spin (easiest way is actually to reverse up the driveway slowly! or to drive up forwards with decent momentum, in a low automatic gear) and are happy to answer any questions to prospective guests. You are always welcome to park some or all vehicles along the bottom section of our private driveway above lower gate for walking or shuttling a second car if you feel more comfortable only driving a four wheel drive vehicle up the driveway. Master bedroom has a king size brand new memory foam mattress, wall mounted flat screen with cable and Netflix. It has windows overlooking the mountains valley and a sliding glass door directly onto the deck next to the pool. The master bathroom has a shower and raised bathtub, with two separate sinks. The second bedroom has a brand new queen size memory foam mattress and direct access to the second bathroom with a window that looks onto the garden. There is a new queen-size Aerobed and a comfortable pull out mattress sleeper sofa (along with smaller red futon sofa) for use in the very large sized family room for additional guests. The house has a good washer and drier, new dishwasher, and full cell phone coverage and high speed wifi internet access. The house is also stocked with books, games and some toys, including some items for the pool. Guest access Guests have access to the full private access 21 plus acre property of lovely, mature California oak and Manzanita trees savannah hillsides which includes a 3-4 acre fenced in area for pets. Please close driveway gate upon entry and exit to prevent deer from coming in and eating the plants near the house. The house and deck and nearly all of the property offer full privacy with neighboring properties' homes at quite a distance away. Much of the acreage is pretty steep, but a good walk on the property is to walk up the hillside just outside the manual gate. Towards the top of the property you can find a bench on a flatter area that is great for picnics, with lovely views of the Ukiah Valley. Other things to note Mendocino County Guest Tax: The county requires any short term lodging host (hotel, camping, B&Bs, AirBNBs) to collect an 11% Transient Occupancy Tax. Payment is part of total displayed. Also, guests are required to notify us if they will be bringing a pet, the number they are bring, confirm they are bringing bedding for their pets. We ask that guests please follow house rules to pick up and dispose of any pet waste in separate sealed bagging near the house deck and driveway, no evidence of animal accidents in the house especially on fabric surfaces, and that pet hair be cleaned up in the house including on furniture and bedding. If the house is not left free of damage, waste and pet hair, we will assess a separate pet cleaning/damage fee. Our goal is keep the house clean and free of pet damage for ourselves and for all future guests, and many of our guests have pet allergies, thank you for cooperation!
