Description
NEW: king-size bed, replacing the queen. Quiet, compact studio in the Whiteaker historic neighborhood, with private courtyard. A short walk to cafes, a natural grocery, breweries, and wine tasting venues. A mile from the train station and downtown, and close to the river bike path. The space This is a small studio next to our house, also available for rent in combination with our house under the listing "Charming House & Studio in the Whit." The studio is a warm sunny space fronting the courtyard next to our house, its front door shaded by a massive climbing rose. It includes a king bed with memory foam and a seating area by the window, with a private bathroom and a small semi-kitchenette (frig, coffee pot, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, and necessary dishes/glasses/flatware, etc.) We'll leave you some breakfast snacks and some locally roasted coffee. You can rent this space alone, or for larger groups, along with the main house, if available. About our location: We're on quiet 5th Avenue, but only a block away from the Whiteaker’s commercial district at Blair Blvd, so we enjoy the best of urban life while still retaining privacy. The studio has its own courtyard with a deck and seating where you can relax, surrounded by a profusion of greenery and color. The Whiteaker, long famous as an artistic and free-spirited enclave, is home to many beloved Eugene institutions such as Sam Bond’s Garage (music venue and pub), Sweet Life Patisserie, Fisherman’s Market, New Day Bakery, and Red Barn organic grocery. Recently it’s attracted attention as a fast-growing commercial district and magnet for hip, new eateries including Tacovore, Nelson's Taquería, Jungle Fowl (gourmet chicken dishes), a neighborhood bar "The Crow and the Cart", and many other locales. Several popular food carts have also sprung up here. Eugene's emerging "fermentation district" is here, anchored by brewery Ninkasi and joined by other craft brewers Oakshire, and Hop Valley. Included also are three wine tasting venues, Territorial Winery, Capitello Wines, and Eugene Wine Cellars. Distilleries Heritage and Thinking Tree are also here. All these are within easy walking distance. If you stay in the Whit, you’ll be charmed and entertained – and you may not need to get into a car during your entire visit. The area is very walk and bike friendly – in fact, 5th Ave is a biking route. A mile down 5th a few blocks east toward downtown is the 5th St. Market District with more popular shops and eateries. The neighborhood is about five minutes drive to downtown and 10 minutes from the U of O on Eugene’s eastern flank, each also easily accessible via bike. In addition, Eugene’s famous river-bike path is just four blocks away. Be aware, however, that urban neighborhoods can get noisy. In addition, this area is Eugene's oldest, most historic neighborhood and attracts a wide range of people. While the house is isolated from the daily foot and street traffic on Blair Blvd., we are close to a park that is an occasional venue for private or public parties. The vast majority of the time, however, it's quiet and peaceful here. We hope you'll enjoy it. Guest access There is street parking in front of the house. Other things to note We are a pet-free zone, due to allergies. Please do not book and then request to bring a pet. I'm sorry we won't be able to accommodate any animals.
