Leadville Short Term License # 1996 Looking for peace and quiet as well as adventure, excitement, and history? Leadville has it and this home is your hub to experience all that Leadville has to offer. Whether you prefer the winter or the summer, Leadville is in a great location to enjoy all that there is to do in the outdoors. This house is located close to the main street of Leadville (Harrison Ave.) You can walk to town to shop for a unique Leadville treasure, grab a cup of coffee, or meet friends for dinner on a beautiful summer night. The house is within walking distance of the Mineral Belt Trail - a 12 mile paved trail that rings the city of Leadville - great for biking and running in the summer or cross-country/nordic skiing, and snowshoeing in the winter. Our home has beautiful views of Turquoise Lake, Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive. The street is quiet and lined with many old trees. The house is a “shotgun Victorian” built in 1901 that has been gutted and rebuilt with modern amenities and restored Victorian features. The downstairs has 10 foot wainscoted ceilings in the living room and dining room. There is one bedroom downstairs. The downstairs bathroom has a 6 foot long claw-foot tub and a large pedestal sink. Pristine oak wood floors are found throughout the first floor with oriental carpets in each room. The living room has large west-facing windows to enjoy the afternoon sunset and a view of Turquoise Lake. It also has a gas stove. A large mission style table in the dining room has plenty of room to seat a full-house. The kitchen has been redesigned with new cabinets, and an over-sized granite-tiled island perfect for breakfast and lunch or a casual supper. The washer and dryer are on the first floor as well. The kitchen was originally two smaller rooms. We took out a wall, added the island, and had room for a cozy futon couch. It's perfect for reading or napping in front of the sun drenched picture windows. A gas stove in the kitchen adds the warmth only a fire can bring. Up the stairs, a room at the top has 2 queen-sized beds, carpeted wood floor, and another gas stove. The window in this room highlights the view of Mt. Elbert while the south facing windows present views of the Mosquito Range to the east. Another couple of steps up, takes you to the gabled second bedroom/shared sleeping loft with the second bathroom. The queen-sized bed sits under a west facing window while the other window lets in the eastern light. Near this eastern window, a fourth semi-private double bed sits. All four of these beds are located in the shared/open space, semi-private sleeping loft, which could be tricky if you need a lot of privacy. All of our mattresses are varying degrees of firm. The windows and open space do create the perfect set-up for a cool summer cross-breeze and a great night's sleep, however. The bathroom was custom made with a beautifully tiled shower, glass vessel sink, and granite vanity. The house is unique and full of character, that's for sure. It's comfortable and welcoming whether you've had a long day on the slopes, an adventurous trip up a 14er, a long training ride or run, or a stroll through the mining district of the city. This is a strict no party, no smoking, no pet house. We like and respect our neighbors, and it is extremely important to us that our guests are a good fit for this very quiet and relaxed neighborhood. Also, the property has an 8 person maximum at all times, so it is not suitable for guests looking to have gatherings. Access to the entire house -- minus one locked closet We will not be around, but we can be reached by phone, and we have a property manager in town who can help with an emergency. We will give you an access code to the house so you can come and go as you please during your stay. We have security cameras at the front door, side door, and back door that record. Our home is walking distance to Harrison Ave (Main Street) as well as to the mineral belt trail - a 12 mile paved biking, running path that encircles the town of Leadville. There are many mining remnants with plaques describing their importance along the trail. Our neighbors are all very respectful and quiet. Our home has a view of Turquoise Lake, a recreation area with more great trails for hiking, running, and biking. Our kitchen is stocked with spices, some cooking supplies like oil, flour, and sugar, as well as cleaning supplies. We want you to feel at home so you are welcome to use these items, but if you use something up, please replace it for the next guest.
