Two nearby state parks offer hiking, fishing, and water activities like paddle boarding and kayaking. You are also only 20-30 minutes from Wilmington and the downtown Cape Fear riverfront area, which offers a wide variety of restaurants, shopping, and sightseeing. Be sure to walk a few minutes south on the beach to see the rare coquina rocks along the shoreline, which you can see well during low tide. These mounds of seashell and limestone form tiny pools and puddles of water and are home to all kinds of interesting sea life.
