My studio is close to parks, art and culture, shopping, restaurants and dining, great views, hiking at Glen Helen Nature Preserve, and the bike path. You’ll love this new space with modern styling, fun furniture, and lots of space. It's perfect for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families with kids. It was built as a maker's studio, so it's great for small retreats for sewers, knitters, and scrapbookers, as well. It is not suitable for those with difficulty climbing stairs. This private upstairs studio has been described as a tree house because it is surrounding by nature, with lots of gardens, trees, and birds. It is a studio, which is one large room with a small kitchen and a bathroom. Two or more couples staying here together may want more privacy, but it is perfect for a couple, several friends, or a family with children. I’ve recently added two optional folding screens to give some extra privacy. You’ll find them tucked away inside the entry alcove. In spring of 2022, I had a new heating and air conditioning unit installed and got a new 47" smart TV. I also recently got a brand new high-quality king-size bed to replace the queen, complete with all new bedding including bedbug covers, mattress pad, sheets, pillows, and quilt. Hoot 'n' Haller Studio is even better than before! Feel free to park in the driveway. The studio is over the detached garage, and the stairway is on the backyard side. If you're riding your bike(s) in, or just want to bring bikes to enjoy the easy access to the bike trails, there is locked storage in the garage where you can keep your bikes while you're here. If you're staying in the winter and want to park your vehicle in the garage, that's available, too. I live across the driveway and I'm retired, so I'm just a phone call away most of the time. We are within walking distance to downtown Yellow Springs (3 blocks) and Glen Helen Nature Preserve (5 blocks). The bike path north toward Springfield and south toward Xenia is only minutes away. John Bryan State Park and Clifton Gorge are within 5 miles. Our favorite restaurants are the Sunrise Cafe, Ellie's at the Mills Park Hotel, The Winds Cafe, Calypso, The Trail Tavern, and Peach's. Current Cuisine is a great little deli if you want to pick something up to bring back to the studio. And Tom's Market has everything you might want if you choose to come back and cook in the studio. The Yellow Springs Brewery is a great place to get a beer or a can of wine (yes, a can!), and they usually have an amazing food truck just outside if you want to eat there, too. The Trail Town Brewery is now open, and they serve delicious Miguel's Tacos (and more). Parking is available in my driveway, and it's possible to store your bike in my locked garage for easy access while you're here. In addition to the king-size bed described above, the two extra beds are a full-size mattress tucked into an alcove on the floor and a futon in the front dormer. Each bed would be fine for two children or an adult and child, but two big adults might prefer more space. There is also a very comfortable queen-size air mattress (in the closet) that can be used in addition to the three beds listed. Feel free to log into your accounts (Netflix, Hulu, HBO, etc.) or use my Prime Video on the smart TV. Just be sure to bring your userid and passwords to log in. If you need an earlier check-in or would like to stay later than 11:00 AM, just ask. If I can get the studio cleaned from previous guests or I can get it cleaned in time for the next guests, it should work out. If you want to be sure to get an early check-in, ask about blocking off the previous night for an additional $50. This is sometimes an option if the studio is available. There are four yoga mats, bolsters, blankets, and sets of blocks on the shelf under the big table, and there is plenty of space to use them if you want to move the table and/or roll up the large rug. If you want to bring bikes, let me know and I'll give you a key to my garage to store them in. If you like to walk or run, it's a very safe community for that, and there are plenty of beautiful spaces to do so. The kids can also play in the back yard and on the jungle gym if there is an adult present. There's a "secret closet" with toys that kids like to play in. If you let me know the ages of your children, I'll try to place clean age-appropriate toys in there.
