The space The house features a fully stocked kitchen, laundry room, Smart TVs in the cozy living room and 2nd-floor master bedroom. Fast Fiberoptic WiFi throughout the property, including outside by the saltwater pool, rancho with fire pit, and BBQ grill. Air conditioning in all the bedrooms. The upstairs balcony provides stunning views of the pool area and surrounding mountains, perfect for enjoying a drink while watching the sunrises and sunsets. A car is recommended to get around. Everything you may need is fairly close, but the area is spread out. Our road is well-maintained, so 4-wheel drive is not required to get to and from our property, but other roads and areas are not as well-kept. If you plan on doing a lot of driving, the option of 4-wheel drive is worthwhile, especially in the rainy season. Having a car will open up all the options to you. Local car companies will be more affordable. You will fall in love with Costa Rica's untouched beauty, being able to live connected/ grounded/close to the earth and nature. You will get a true taste of Costa Rica living at its best.You get the adventure of nature and comforts of modern living rolled into a wonderful package. Being in a more rural location means the possibility of unexpected little hiccups. Power outages and other inconveniences are common in Costa Rica as it is still a developing nation and sometimes a little patience is necessary when issues arise. Please read our reviews. Our only complaints are from guests who were more suited to "hotels with concierge services" and not very self-reliant. We do our best to make sure any issues are resolved as quickly as possible but, sometimes things are beyond human control. We work with you to find the best solutions to any issues, so you can continue to enjoy your vacation or work-cation. Rest assured, we prioritize our guests' comfort and needs above all else. Sit back and relax, or take a short 10-minute drive to Platanillo for a few restaurants, 2 small supermarkets, meat shop, hardware store, and a bakery. A short distance up the road passed Platanillo will take you to Tinamastes, where you can find a large weekly farmers market, selling locally grown fruits and vegetables, local art, souvenirs and more. Some other attractions in the area include a couple of beautiful waterfalls, rivers and a reptile zoo. The beach town of Dominical is 20-30 minutes west down the mountain and offers even more options, including some nightlife. Drive further south, and you arrive at Uvita and the Ballena National Park and Beach. If you crave a little city action, 30 minutes east from Platanillo takes you to San Isidro de General, which is Costa Rica's second-largest city. You will love the peace, quiet, and options available to make your own noise and adventure away from the hustle and bustle. Guest access Please note that the rancho, fire pit, and pool are shared areas. The pool is professionally maintained once a week. A net is available for guests to skim the water for any leaves or critters that partied too hard the night before. Being surrounded by all this natural beauty means things fall into the pool. Be proactive. Cleaning the pool is like cleaning your soul. I personally enjoy it. Other things to note There are lots of trees and animals in the area that often interact with power lines making power outages fairly common in Costa Rica. Sometimes they last for only a few minutes and sometimes they can be longer. We have no control in those situations and can only wait for it to be resolved by power company. We provide flashlights and batteries in the house. Having your own flashlight and back up batteries for your phone and other devices, some bottled water for the car and house is recommended.
