The Old Hovel, a light and airy cottage

A new, stylish cottage, perfect for some quality, ‘Yorkshire’ time. It’s been converted and extended into an airy, modern space at the heart of the friendly village of Galphay, (pr.Gaafee), near Ripon and the Yorkshire Dales, in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Attention to detail provides a welcoming place to unwind and enjoy the area, where local gems include the stunning Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal gardens, Brimham Rocks, Himalayan Garden, Newby Hall and Harrogate. The space The open plan living space has a wood-burning stove, (with free wood provided). The room has lots of natural light and comfy sofa and chair, plus Wi-Fi and a TV. There’s books and games to relax with. The kitchen has an induction hob, fan oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and toaster, plus plenty of utensils for if you’ve a passion for cooking. The dining area is flooded with natural light and overlooks the garden, this could be a good workspace if needed. (The garden and drive open onto the lane.) Your wet room has underfloor heating, shower, heated towel rail, toilet and sink. The bedroom also overlooks the garden and has a sumptuous king-size bed with quality bedding including feather bolsters. There’s storage and a dressing table with Bluetooth radio and a hairdryer. Guest access Galphay is 4miles from Ripon, North Yorkshire and approximately 10 miles from Harrogate and the train. The 138/139 bus service travels round the villages but isn’t daily. There is free car parking for a car here on the drive, plus more free roadside parking close by. If you’re coming by bike we can arrange free secure bike storage in the shed. Other things to note Guests can book-in and bring one, small, well-behaved pet, but we request no animal is allowed on the furniture and no pet should be left unattended. Alas we do not count labradors or golden retriever-sized dogs as small. Also, please note the garden and drive are not fenced off from the lane.
