Studio near Säynätsalo Town Hall

One-room flat with kitchen and bathroom, only 200 m from Alvar Aalto’s famous Säynätsalo Town Hall (visible from the windows). The location is very peaceful, on an island surrounded by the beautiful Lake Päijänne, but with local services close by – there is a supermarket just across the street and a café in the town hall. Buses from Jyväskylä city center stop right at the front door and continue farther into the archipelago, all the way to Aalto’s Muuratsalo Experimental House. The space This is a one-room flat with kitchen and bathroom, in a three-storey 1950s block with small business premises at the street level, located in Säynätsalo, an island in the southernmost part of Jyväskylä. Guests have been especially satisfied by the peaceful location, beautiful environment and proximity to famous Alvar Aalto buildings. Many have also mentioned the beds were very comfortable. Uniquely, the flat has a collection of books (mostly paperbacks in Finnish and English) which are free for taking. The shelf is replenished whenever a book is taken. Guest access You can use the flat’s own parking space on the lot behind the building free of charge. Parking on the street is free of charge too but it is allowed for max 2 hours. Other things to note The apartment is located on the third floor (ground floor + 2). There is no elevator. The bathroom is cool in wintertime because of natural ventilation and lack of nearby radiators, although there is floor heating and hot water comes quickly without needing to wait.
