Perfect Peak District Stone Cottage Retreat

Matchbox Cottage is an idyllic retreat to the South East of the Peak District, perfect for up to 4 people. We have some of the best walks in England right on our doorstep. Dog friendly, one small or medium dog welcome. Situated only a 4 minute downhill walk to the centre of the historic, picturesque village of Wirksworth. Pubs, restaurants, cinema and shops are all close by. Our cottage has been lovingly restored and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do. The space Traditional wooden beams frame a cosy sitting room and dining room which lead to a country style cottage kitchen with all modern amenities, breakfast bar with charging points for laptops and phones. A turn in the stairs leads to two luxurious double bedrooms and a bathroom with a freestanding roll top bath and handheld shower to soak away aching muscles. The main bedroom, perfect for relaxing at the end of an active day, has a superior quality king size bed complete with bedding and towels. Ample storage space is provided. The second bedroom has a quality kingsize bed that can be separated into twin beds. Please advise bed configuration on booking. Smart TV and WIFI for those evenings in, south facing rear garden with garden furniture, BBQ and Chiminea for evenings out or relax in the morning sun in the front garden with a coffee. Our favourite place for breakfast. Both gardens are secure for your dog and in the outhouse there is a hose to wash muddy paws and towels to dry them. Here, you will also find a freezer and washer/dryer for your use. We provide a welcome basket for your arrival to get you started and a supply of logs for the winter evenings. Parking There is is no designated parking however there is plenty of on street parking opposite the cottage, plus a lay by 40 metres up the road on the right hand side which is also available for parking. Other things to note Due to the steep stairs the cottage is not ideal for toddlers or people with limited mobility. The walk back to the cottage from the village centre is on an uphill incline. The bathroom has a roll top cast iron bath that has high sides. There is no walk-in shower. This beautiful cosy cottage was built circa 1750, and should be booked with this consideration in mind.
