Higher Lodge, Devon thatched cottage

Magical 300 year old thatched cottage, lovingly restored into the ultimate countryside retreat- pet friendly, hot tub, roll top bath and a stones throw from the local pub... Nestled in the historic village of Cockington, Higher Lodge was originally the gardeners cottage and a gate house to Cockington Court. Surrounded by 250 acres of landscaped gardens, woodland walks and only 5 minutes drive from the beach, this romantic hideaway is the perfect place to escape the every day. The space BOOT ROOM- space for muddy boots, wet brollies and sandy towels! This useful entrance at the rear of the cottage is essential after exploring the Devon countryside and local beaches. Includes a utility area with washing machine and traditional butler sink and a separate WC. KITCHEN DINING ROOM- a social space with everything you need to cook up a feast for the family, or a romantic meal for two. Includes a full size dishwasher, oven, microwave and a Nespresso machine LOUNGE- the spacious but cosy lounge is the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. A traditional gas burning stove is perfect all year round and there's a stack of games for rainy days and romantic evenings. There's a 42" smart tv for movie night or chill out listening to some jazz on the vintage style record player MASTER SUITE- original quarrelled windows with views across Cockington Court grounds, exposed beams and an enormous freestanding tub, the master bedroom is a seriously romantic space to unwind. In addition to the roll top bath, the double bedroom has a private ensuite shower room with marble tiles and exposed beams SECOND BEDROOM- slightly smaller, but no less luxurious, this double bedroom boasts exposed beams, a gorgeous bespoke William Morris bed and a private ensuite shower room OUTSIDE- soak away the city stress in the bubbling hot tub, or relax and cosy up beneath the stars. The mature gardens are the perfect place for long summer evenings and a glass of fizz There is fencing around the back and one side of the cottage where the hot tub is located, but the front and side which backs on to Cockington Court park is surrounded by hedge and/or vegetation. Although it’s fairly dense we can’t be certain that a small dog wouldn’t find a way through this area! The hot tub is available year round but please note the hot tub is drained and refilled after each guest for hygiene and safety, this means the hot tub may not be at the recommended 36*c temperature at time of check- in and may take some time to heat fully FREE PARKING FOR 2 CARS - Higher Lodge has two designated parking spaces in the car park right outside the cottage. *We can register 2 cars for free parking in the Higher Lodge car park next to our cottage *Vehicle number plate(s) must be sent to us at least 48 hours in advance of your stay *If you do not provide your vehicle number plate(s) at least 48 hours before your stay you will need to pay for parking directly using Park With Ease website or using the machine in the car park *There is a number plate recognition camera in the car park and you will receive a parking fine if your car is not registered for use of the car park Guest access Guest enjoy private access to the whole cottage. Bedding is not provided for the travel cot POTENTIAL FOR NOISE - the cottage backs on to a car park, you may hear some noise from the cars during the day but in the evenings it is very peaceful NO SMOKING, NO BBQ'S, NO CANDLES - absolutely no smoking, candles or BBQ's in the cottage or in the gardens due to the delicate thatch
