There is an adjacent barn with 3 cottages (for 2 and 4 people) about 75m away - and you share the estate space overall - although Brackenrigg House has its own gardens, summer house, patio, BBQ area, parking, giving a total private space of around 1.5 acres. On our rural estate, we are proud of our re-wilding projects, converting a 3 acre paddock to woodland and a large wildlife pond. There is plenty of wildlife, including badgers, red squirrels, occasional deer, many many song birds, owls and bats all of which we positively encourage, and of course, much else besides! In the summer, house martins nest under the eaves, and can be seen all day, catching insects on the wing. As with any rural property, especially one where we encourage wildlife, you may find the occasional spider/cobweb/fly - we clear these out on changeover days of course, but one or two may escape the broom! I trust such things will be taken in your stride. This is an amazing spot to explore the Lake District, with all corners of the park within driving distance.
