Jambala Cottage

Jambala Cottage situated in a unique, tranquil environment. Perfectly suited for intentional relaxation in the heart of Gippsland. The fireplace adequately heats the cottage providing a cozy atmosphere during colder weather, and the sliding glass door at the back providing outside views. During warmer months take it easy on the back balcony with big skies, open pasture, lush woods and abundant wildlife. Wifi is now available in the cottage, wifi password is iloveSIBA The space SIBA (Sakya International Buddhist Academy) is situated in Snowy River Country in the heart of East Gippsland, Victoria. Formerly ONTOS, it was founded by Lama Choedak Rinpoche and formally opened and consecrated by His Eminence Chogye Trichen Rinpoche in 2006. During this time His Eminence gave the centre the dharma name ‘Tsarchen Choeling’. The main house (re-built in 2006) with kitchen, dining and shrine room and the motel buildings (built in the 70's) are in the centre of 108 acres of land. Surrounded by Stringy bark woods, orchards, ponds to swim in, farmland and state forest. Jambala once a farm house, then cafe when the property was operating as ONTOS, a hub for the W Tree community to meet and relax. In 2010 it was renovated and became the care takers quarters. 2 years ago it became available as accomodation for guests passing through, or as place to stay and retreat. Jambala cottage is has its own fully equipped kitchen, with stove, microwave, electric kettle etc. It has a dining area, bathroom with bath tub. It has queen bed + lounge area ( see photos). There are 2 single beds in the mezzanine and 2 more int he small room at the back of the house. The perfect place to rest, rejuvenate, retreat or as a base when visiting the Buchan caves, the little river gorge, the snowy river and many more sites. And since the property itself, is home to kangaroos and wallabies, goannas, kookaburras, various types of parrots, sugar gliders, possums and more. It is perfect for any nature enthusiast to come and spend time. (Jambala is an emanation of the Buddha of compassion, also a symbol of wealth and prosperty.) Guest access All guests have access to the spaces in the main house, such as the commercial kitchen and the communal lounge / dining areas, where wifi is accessible and shrine room (gompa). As well, the yoga temple for any body work / meditative practices. please ask staff for any assistance. The main house is opposite Jambala, 1 minute walk away. New Phone towers have been put up in the area and some phones may be able to receive a bar or two near the cottage. But there is no gaurantee it will be so.
