B&B de Bovenbouw: Loft in a characteristic school

In the school building where we live as a family, we have transformed the upper building into a B&B. In the 5-meter-high room, we built a loft where there is a double bed and 2 children's rooms. We give sports lessons in the gym, feel free to join in or go monkeying with your children when it rains. Outside they can feed the chickens, pick up eggs, play in the square and directly in front of the school is a playground. At 5 minutes distance, there is a beach/nature reserve. Good to know: it is without breakfast. The space The space is a former classroom, the upper building. A space of 7x7m2 and almost 5 meters high. There is a loft built in with a double bed and access to 2 small rooms when you come upstairs. On the left is a room with a crib, a growing bed and a dresser, and in the right room is a single bed. In the right room, a crib can be added. The space is therefore suitable for families with 1-3 children (or a 4th child if there are still 2 sleeping in a crib). Under the loft is the kitchen (with fridge-freezer, oven, induction stove) and a dining table, triptraps available. There is also a play corner there. Under the stairs is a reading corner and in the section next to the loft a nice sitting area and French doors to the schoolyard: the garden. Here is a picnic table, bench, small private lawn. We ourselves have a large sandpit, trampoline, mud kitchen and climbing frame, and there are chickens. Our garden can also be used between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Since May 2025, the B&B has a new bathroom, right next to the entrance of the B&B in the hall. We provide towels, hydrophilic towels and fine shower gel/shampoo. There is a baby bath with counter and changing pad. In the building is the original gym, where Andor CrossFit teaches small groups. You can join a class if there is room. The gym is also accessible outside of the lessons, so that you can climb and play with the children indoors in bad weather. Or you can train yourself, of course. Everything is at your own risk. Children only under adult supervision for safety reasons. In case the other B&B is also booked, there is a sign-up list at the gym so that there is always a time on a day when you can exercise/play undisturbed with your own family. Of course, clean up everything immediately afterwards. :-) 5 minutes away is Borgerswold, a nature reserve with (swimming) beach, water ski track, a riding school and large children's farm. And you can enjoy hiking and biking there. There is also a fun discovery route for children: Het Veenjagerspad. Of course, we can give you more tips during your stay about what to do here. There is a buggy, bouncer and play mat available. Furthermore, there are plenty of toys and books. So you only need to bring clothes, slippers and toiletries :-) Guest access You can park in front of the building, there are 10 parking spaces here Other things to note The room has electric underfloor heating, which is very pleasant and quickly heated. We ask guests to turn down the heating at night and when leaving to avoid unnecessary energy consumption. The hall and gym are cool in the winter months. We have bathrobes, do you bring your own slippers? We expect our guests to handle our belongings carefully and report it if something unexpectedly breaks. We do not charge a cleaning fee because we assume that our guests leave everything tidy: beds made, laundry in laundry baskets, dishwasher empty, trash cans emptied in the right containers on the square, table and counter clean and floor swept clean. If you would rather be able to leave on vacation and without obligations in that area, you can of course do that as well. Then we ask you to pay €50 cleaning fee upon departure. In addition to chickens, we also have a rooster, which crows in the morning. If you suspect that this will bother you and you would like to stay with us, please bring earplugs :-) It is no longer possible to book breakfast. With 3 young children, we have our hands full in the morning. The kitchen in the apartment has an oven, fridge, coffee machine, etc. We provide the cups and tea!
