Cozy, Oceanfront Studio with Backup Power!

Discover tranquil waterfront living in our charming studio, nestled on the quiet west end of St. Thomas. Perched above the Caribbean Sea, this private apartment offers an unparalleled escape for travelers seeking serenity and natural beauty. The space This private downstairs apartment is the perfect place to stay if you are looking for peace and privacy at the end of a day in the sun! Inside the studio you will find a queen size bed and air conditioning - or turn the air conditioning off and open the windows to take full advantage of the sounds of the waves (there's a standing fan to keep the air moving)! To help you relax we have a Roku with Netflix access included. There are painting supplies provided if you feel like capturing a reminder of your trip! We also have a small selection of games, books and puzzles. The house is equipped with solar power and battery back up as well as Starlink internet - so you shouldn’t notice the occasional power outages on island. The kitchen has everything you'll need for cooking meals or packing a lunch to take with you on your adventures. There is a drip coffee maker as well as a french press with coffee, creamer, and sugar to get you started. If coffee isn't your preference there is also an electric kettle and a selection of teas! Beach towels, folding beach chairs, and a selection of snorkel gear are available so you'll be ready for a day in the sun! We have a soft sided cooler and freezer packs to keep your drinks and snacks cold. The deck wraps around two sides and offers an unbeatable view of the ocean. When you get back from the beach take advantage of the outdoor shower to rinse off the sand and salt. There is a propane grill on the deck and a table for two with an amazing view of the bay. String lights make it the perfect cozy spot to enjoy a meal. PLEASE NOTE: it is very difficult to rely on taxis in our area and you will need to rent a car for your stay! We are on the quieter, western end of the island and there is no public transportation. Four wheel drive IS NOT required to get to the property but you will be more comfortable in a jeep or SUV as the last quarter mile to the property has some rough areas. Bella Fortuna is the house I grew up in! We live upstairs in the main house with three cats. You may see one or all of us at various times as you come to and from the property but you have a private entrance to the downstairs apartment and you are just as likely not to see us at all! We are always happy to answer questions or make recommendations but respect and value your privacy while staying at Bella Fortuna! Guest access There is one parking place available with the rental. Two sets of stairs lead you down to the apartment! Keys to the apartment will be available at the property upon arrival. Other things to note Map apps have us at 16 minutes from the airport, but you may find that your initial drive out takes a little longer as you get used to driving on the left! Plan to drive 20 minutes to get to the closest shops and restaurants, but the drive is pleasant with beautiful views of the ocean and no traffic! Plenty of streetlights will help get you back after dark! There are no restaurants on our end of the island but there is a local food truck not far from the house as well as a very small convenience store. We are listed as "Bella Fortuna" on a popular map service - it’s a great way to get an idea of how long it will take to get to the places you plan to visit during your stay! The property is ocean front on rocky Fortuna Bay - a great spot for treasure hunting, snorkeling on calm days, or sitting in the sun. It's a quick six minute walk down a quiet public road (or drive down - it is uphill on the way back!). Bring the beach chairs or sit on one of the giant boulders and watch the waves roll in. Take the perfect picture on the tree swing! Keep an eye out for dolphins, sprat and turtles as they skim the surface. Brewer's Bay is our favorite sandy beach and only a 15 minute drive away. There is a food truck serving local foods (try the pates!) and it’s a great beach for spotting and swimming with sea turtles! Watch the planes skim over the water as they come in for landing. Bathrooms are available and there is free parking. Find a shady spot under the trees to the left!
