Woodland View, South Barrow, is a stunning barn conversion with phenomenal views overlooking the rolling Somerset hills. With three elegant bedrooms, a second sitting room/bedroom 4 (with very comfortable double sofa bed). A huge contemporary open-plan kitchen living spaceand with wood burning stove. The location is in the very popular Somerset golden triangle. with a wealth of great restaurants, charming villages and beautiful walks. It is the perfect escape from the city. The space THE SPACE This stunning interior designed barn is an idyllic, spacious spot for family and friends to relax and take in the beautiful Somerset countryside. LIVING SPACE The main living space (open plan living, kitchen and dining area) boasts oak beam vaulted ceilings, with full height Crittall windows that take in the expansive view, with doors out onto the large terrace, and a fabulous wood burning stove. The contemporary kitchen is large and fully equipped with two ovens, induction hob and an American style fridge freezer. There is ample cutlery, crockery and glasses as well as a collection of cook books. The dining table seats 8 comfortably, and the island has bar seating for 4 people. The living space provides a fabulous, comfortable social space, and a large smart TV. BEDROOMS The vast Master Bedroom features a super-king size bed, and ensuite shower room, with floor to ceiling Crittall windows opening out onto the terrace. The second bedroom features a king sized bed and ensuite walk-in shower. The third bedroom features a king sized bed, and is immediately adjacent to the family bathroom with both bath and shower. The 4th bedroom/second sitting room boasts a large L Shaped comfortable sofabed. The benefit of this room with sofabed is that it has unspoilt panoramic views which open onto large terrace. There is a second smart TV. The sofa turns into a very comfortable double sofa bed. The windows have black out blinds. UTILITY SPACE The garage is used as a games room with table tennis and an exercise bike, and is a great space to put coats and muddy wellies after country walks! There is also a utility room with a washing machine and a dryer, and separate sink. There is ample parking for at least 4 cars in the private drive. GARDEN There are two terraces in this beautiful barn conversion. The main terrace overlooks some of the most enviable views in Somerset, and has an outdoor dining table to enjoy the summer months. The other terrace is approached from the drive in an enclosed courtyard with Mediterranean planting, and a barbecue area. THE LOCAL AREA Located in the heart of Somerset, there is virtually no light pollution, and on a clear night the skies are bursting with stars, with the sound of owls the only noise. The local area has some lovely walks and scenic views to enjoy. There are a wealth of excellent pubs and restaurants in the area - I am happy to provide recommendations for booking! The barn is 15 minutes from the historic town of Bruton, where you will find the world famous Hauser Wirth art gallery (and it's excellent restaurant and farm shop), as well as charming and quirky shops, and some excellent restaurants including At The Chapel and Michelin Star rated Osip. The award winning Newt is a mere 10 minutes away. A country estate with splendid gardens, woodland walks, tree top walk and farmland is a mere 10 minute drive away. The latest addition to The Newt is a reconstructed Roman Villa with an excellent interactive experience which children of all ages will love! The newly created four seasons garden is also well worth a visit. As well as a hotel with restaurant, it has a lovely contemporary bistro built on stilts. We highly recommend a visit! The recently opened HOLM restaurant (given 5* rating by William Sitwell) in South Petherton is 2.0 minutes away. The charming market town of Castle Cary is a 10 minute drive, and has a good selection of shops, a great delicatessen and wine shop. This is also the closest train station to the barn with direct connections to London and Bath. Sherborne Town with shops and the Abbey is 15 minutes drive. Slightly further afield, the Somerset levels offers beautiful wetlands and terrific bird watching (if you are here in winter is has one of the best Starling murmurations in the country) and walking. The famous Glastonbury is also 30 minutes. A 50 minute drive will take you to the coastal town of Burton Bradstock where you can walk the famous Jurassic coast. You will never be bored!
