Description

This 18th century cottage sleeps 3 (a double and single bed). Easily walkable to the City - 20 mins downhill, 3 mins via car. Uninterrupted, stunning views of Bath. If you love the countryside but need the City on your doorstep then this gives you the best of both worlds. Your visit will begin with a winding drive through woods and uniquely you have to walk to the cottage (200 yards via some steps) and hopefully catch a glimpse of the deer! Linen, towels and basics are provided. The space This is the gardeners cottage to the Fersfield Estate and was built in approx 1780. The floors do slope, the walls are not straight and it is in the countryside yet very, very close to the City of Bath. There are deer in the fields, owls and buzzards abound, badgers are everywhere and it is a place unique to Bath. Many taxi drivers and locals do not know of its existence since there are only 6 houses in the Estate. Guest access If you are a nervous driver you might find the drive through the woods scary but don't get worried! I walk at night in the dark without a torch but you might find a torch useful (handy tip - use the torch on your phones). There are no lamp posts in the wood or near the Cottage which makes night viewing of stars and the City pretty amazing on clear nights. You do need to walk with your luggage to the Cottage. The footpath is a field path so if it is raining it will be muddy - please note high heels are not practical at this cottage. Other things to note There is a full manual in the Cottage listing everything you need to work the heating, washing machine, dvd, tv etc. It also gives details of how to catch buses, get a taxi (with numbers) and other useful walks, runs and hints. Please note that if it is icy or snowy you may need to leave your car at the bottom of the woodland drive and walk to the Cottage.
