Our flat is under 10 mins from Bethnal Green tube, and within 2 mins of the number 8, D3 and D6 bus routes. We're just a couple of minutes walk from Victoria Park (some might say the best park in London!). At the weekends there is easy access to Columbia Road/ Broadway markets and there are several shops within a short walk (from convenience, to hipster, to cafes, restaurants and bars) - and oh yes, a fantastic pub - The Camel! (there are actually a few more too, but that's our favourite).
