Located just 30m from the popular Perranporth beach, Cliff Nook is the perfect couple's retreat. Small but perfectly formed, Cliff Nook is an old miner's cottage dating back to the 18th century. It has recently undergone a full renovation whilst retaining all of its charming features. Exposed stone walls, a free standing bath, wood burner, underfloor heating downstairs, king-sized bed and hand-made kitchen provide a truly memorable stay. The space The cottage is reverse level in order to maximise the sea views. Open the front door and you'll immediately step into the bedroom with a king-sized bed. A large curtain ensures privacy whilst allowing as much light to enter the cottage as possible. One step up takes you into the brand new ensuite bathroom complete with Mandarin Stone tiles, double sink, walk-in shower and free-standing bath. The stairs take you to the upper floor with its open plan sitting room and kitchen. The sitting room has a three seater sofa and separate reading chair. A wood burner and starter supply of logs and kindling is provided. Additional logs can be purchased from the nearby Texaco garage. There is a Smart TV, enabled with complimentary Netflix, and a Sonos speaker. The TV does not have an aerial, but all the catch-up apps are available by pressing the home button on the remote control. Books, games and Cornwall walking guides can be found in the small trunk side table. The wifi is fibre and there is 4G reception in the cottage. A tablet contains a welcome guide to Cliff Nook and recommendations for things to do and beaches to visit. You can also use the tablet to view the Surf report and to control the Sonos speaker. Music can be played through the speaker using the complimentary Spotify account. The handmade kitchen has a bar with three stools which give you a view of the beautiful beach outside. Kitchen facilities include a microwave, induction hob, oven, full sized fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is also a cafetiere and Lavazza milk frother. You'll find crockery both on the shelf and in the cupboard by the fridge. As avid travellers, Cliff Nook is full of pieces we've collected in various countries including Mexico, France, Sweden and Indonesia. Outside there is a small (non-enclosed) courtyard and bin store as well as a wetsuit wash tap. Please note that wetsuits and surf/body boards should not be brought into the cottage. Although every effort is made to ensure that the windows are kept squeaky clean, Cliff Nook's location on the beach means that it faces a constant barrage of salt spray. Guest access Perranporth is a bustling small town with all the usual amenities you would expect to find in such a popular tourist destination. The large beach is famed for its surfing and bodyboarding, so make sure to bring your wetsuit! There is no parking at Cliff Nook owing to its central Perranporth location and proximity to the beach. Although it's easy to find parking nearby in low season (see below), it is understandably more difficult during high season, so please take this into consideration when booking. Parking options: 1. High season (Apr 1st - 31st Oct) Free street parking on surrounding roads at the top of the hill (approximately 5 minutes' walk away) such as Droskyn Way and Tregundy Road. Overnight Pay & Display available at Wheal Leisure Carpark. 2. Low season (Nov 1st - Mar 31st) You can park anywhere for free on the main streets in Perranporth (St Piran's Road & Boscawen Road) as well as Droskyn Carpark at the top of Cliff Road (approximately a 3 minute walk from Cliff Nook). Other things to note Please note that Cliff Nook is located at the top of some steep and very uneven steps which make it unsuitable for people with mobility issues. Our neighbours are sporadically undertaking renovations so from time to time there may be noises from the work. We are happy to welcome one well behaved dog (Perranporth is the largest dog-friendly beach in Cornwall) but please do not allow them on any soft furnishings.
