Our LOCATION CANNOT BE BEAT! We are one block outside of Old Port and nestled among some of the finest eateries, shopping, and entertainment in Portland. Kristofferson is a small but cozy room with a full size bed. Perfect for a couple or lone traveler. This is a private room with access to 3 hall baths. Our hostel is a home away from home where you can kick your shoes off and relax on the couch after a long day. Our funky decor and fun vibes will leave you feeling energized and inspired. Don't forget to peruse our guestbook and add your drawing to our chalk wall before you leave! Please note - If you are booking a private room - the room is all yours - but the lobby, garden and kitchen are shared common spaces. The hostel sleeps up to 60 people when fully booked. 24 hour access via keypad entry Full access to our well equipped kitchen until 9:00pm You receive a keycard that accesses your room. Our front desk is staffed between 7am-11am, and 3pm-10pm (1500-2200) every day, but we're always just a phone call away if you need us! We're around to recommend places to eat, activities to do, or tourist traps to avoid. You can also just do your own thing! The Old Port area is packed with plentiful dining opportunities! We were named the '2018 Restaurant City of the year' by Bon Apetite! Just steps from the hostel's doorway, you'll find everything from early-morning cafés to popular weekend brunch spots and highly rated restaurants where you may find a varying global cuisine for lunch and dinner. There is simply not enough time to explore all that the Portland dining scene has to offer... but it's worth a shot, right?! From lively local Bars and Pubs to craft breweries and distilleries, Portland's nightlife is vibrant, artistic, and varied. Whether it be good drink and conversation at a pub, a night out dancing, a look into some of Portland's own breweries and distilleries, or a more refined cocktail in town to end the day, you are sure to find plenty of options within a short walking distance! Excellent dining and nightlife aside, Portland offers a variety of activities for both lone travelers and families. Year round or seasonal this can be anything from a ride on the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad to a Historical tour via horse and carriage. With Maine College of Art (MECA) nestled at its heart, Portland is overflowing with artistic individuals, culture, and entertainment. From galleries and museums to theatre and concerts, the city has plenty to offer in the way of artistic ventures! We are a 15 minute cab/Lyft/Uber ride from the Portland International Jetport and the Portland Jetport. The bus stop is 2 blocks from our front door, and the Portland Metro bus station (for local rides, as well as rides to Freeport and Brunswick) is only 1/2 mile (.8km) away. The Black Elephant is in a great location, so we do have a good amount of free on-street parking available nearby.
