Description
Cosy Cottage Retreat on Lough Hyne, Skibbereen w/ Lake Access Wake up to birdsong, take a morning dip in the saltwater lake, and unwind in your private wood-fired bathtub under the stars. Just 50m from the shore of Lough Hyne, Lough Hyne Cottage is a cosy retreat where nature and luxury align. With a plush cloud couch, premium bedding, a double rain shower, and snuggly Irish wool throws, we’ve designed this cabin for couples to experience deep relaxation and a true escape from the everyday. The space Lough Hyne Cottage is a beautifully crafted, architecturally designed hideaway. Every detail has been thoughtfully chosen to help you slow down and enjoy the moment. The open-plan space features heated polished concrete floors, soft lighting and bifold doors that open onto a spacious deck, where you can sip your morning coffee or soak in the outdoor Hikki woodfired bathtub while listening to the sounds of nature. A cozy mezzanine overlooks the lake - perfect for curling up with a book, playing board games or simply gazing at the night sky. The large window above the bed frames a stunning view of an ancient ash tree, adding to the sense of tranquillity. After a refreshing swim, rinse off in the luxurious double rain shower before sinking into the cloud couch for a well-earned rest. For those who love good food, the kitchenette is ideal for preparing light meals, while the outdoor kitchen with a gas BBQ and full fridge makes cooking outside a treat. West Cork is a food-lover’s paradise, and if you’d rather indulge in local flavours, there are plenty of fantastic restaurants nearby. Guest access Our home is adjacent to The Cottage and we park and use the same courtyard. The magical waters of Lough Hyne are just a 50m stroll down the drive—perfect for a refreshing dip, whether at sunrise or under the stars when the bioluminescent waters glow in the dark. Other things to note Above all else, we are passionate about food and sustainability. Steven bakes wood-fired sourdough every Saturday for the Skibbereen Farmers Market. You're welcome to drop by the bakery on Saturday morning and select a few pastries or a fresh loaf of warm bread for your breakfast. Lough Hyne is renowned for being one of the best spots for sea swimming in Ireland. With no currents and being several degrees warmer than the ocean, it makes it a hub of our West Cork community. With the lake only 50 metres down the driveway, you'd better pack your swim gear no matter what time of year it is! Lough Hyne is also known for its bioluminescence. You can either brave a night-time swim or choose an unforgettable night-time kayaking trip with Atlantic Sea Kayaking, who run nightly kayaking trips 50 metres from the cottage. Lough Hyne Cottage is a 10-minute drive from Baltimore village, which is home to the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Dede at The Customs House. They also have a sister casual dining restaurant Baba'de, which has been awarded a Bib Gourmand. Throughout the year, we also host small yoga retreat days with outdoor classes, organic vegetarian meals, and sauna sessions, all followed by a swim in the lake.
