The Church Guesthouse

Take me to Church! Enjoy the unique character and atmosphere of the former St Thomas Anglican Church. Built in 1885, it now welcomes guests for a very special stay in Toowoomba. Lofty ceilings, original timber floors, soaring leadlights and beautiful woodwork are just some of the features you will appreciate, along with modern conveniences and appliances. The space The Church is an amazing and truly unique space for gathering with your friends or family. Antique furniture and original artworks surround you as you relax in the comfy sofas in the lounge. The entire lower floor living area is air conditioned, and features a wood-burning heater for those cosy gatherings in winter! Firewood is supplied. As an added feature, the Church now offers a home cinema experience, with a projector and quality speakers ready to entertain you. Netflix and YouTube are installed on the projector so its easy to watch your favourite flicks on the big screen! Up to 10 guests can be accommodated in comfortable beds fitted with quality Sheridan linens. Note a small additional guest fee applies for over 6 guests. Please put your guest number in your enquiry to see correct pricing. The upper level has two queen bedrooms, one twin bedroom with a single and a king single bed, and one room with a king single bed. All are served by a bathroom with toilet and shower. Both queen rooms and the twin bedroom have reverse cycle air-conditioners. The remaining single room has an evaporative air cooler and louvre windows, and its own heater for cooler nights. An open mezzanine area with sofa and armchairs, board games and ceiling fan, overlooks the rooms below, and provides a second living space away from the main lounge. Downstairs features a private and spacious ground floor bedroom sleeping up to 3 guests. It has a king bed and a king single bed. This room has a portable evaporative air cooler and panel heater. There is a full family bathroom with rainhead shower and luxurious deep freestanding tub on this level, as well as a separate toilet. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the crockery, appliances etc you are used to at home, or I am happy to recommend some great local eateries close by. A selection of Twinings teas are provided. Your coffee cravings will be well satisfied with a Caffitaly machine with ample quality coffee pods supplied, and a coffee machine with fresh beans and grinder. Guest access The Church Guesthouse sits in one of Toowoomba's prettiest tree-lined streets, in a quiet corner filled with character cottages. We are less than 2kms to the CBD, Grand Central Shopping Centre, Queens park, Cobb and Co museum and Saturday Farmers Market, and all city entertainment and function venues. Northpoint shopping centre is within walking distance being just one block away. It includes Coles, Zaraffas, Coffee Club, chemist, BWS and a range of takeaways. The stylishly renovated Royal Hotel is just 2 minutes walk away, with its excellent restaurant, outdoor garden dining and bottleshop. The Bakers Duck, Burrow and Six of One cafes are a pleasant walk or short drive away. Just 10 mins drive south to Gabbinbar Homestead wedding and function venue, or the same time north to Montys Brewing and the Chocolate Cottage on the Village Green at Highfields. Downlands College, Toowoomba Grammar, Fairholme College, and the town's three public and private hospitals are all within a few minutes drive. Other things to note PLEASE NOTE: The front lower floor of the Church houses a private self contained apartment used exclusively by myself, as is the front garden. Although I do live on site, I may or may not be home during your stay. Please be aware though it is under the same roof, this apartment is completely separated from the rest of the house. It has its own access, so your privacy and security is assured. My garden area is not within sight of your space, and I am aware of maintaining peace and quiet for guests. You have sole use of the driveway, parking area, side and rear garden, and have your own entrance via the deck on the side of the Church. Please ask for details if this is of any concern to you. For guests with children, please note there are stairs to the upper level bedrooms, however a baby gate can be fitted if needed, please ask. Please also be aware when using the fire, the entire firebox will be hot to touch, so children should be closely supervised. There are 4 steps up from the carpark to the garden, then a ramp provides access to the deck and entrance. I do have a friendly Tonkinese cat and Golden Retriever dog who I keep with me in my area, both are very quiet and won't bother anyone, but would welcome a pat if you so wish! My calendar only shows open dates for the next 3 mths, so beyond that may appear unavailable. The Church is open for bookings year round however, so if you are looking at specific dates beyond that time please message me.
