The Bakery - a perfect winter country escape. The space This newly renovated Cotswolds barn has been interior-designed by a respected designer, combining contemporary luxury with warm, country charm. The garden, designed and maintained by an award-winning landscape firm, is particularly stunning in April and May, and features ambient lighting for magical winter evenings outside. Sleeping arrangements: The Bakery has 2 bedrooms, including one with an en suite. From one bedroom, a spiral staircase leads to the mezzanine floor with a third double bed, and a single Z-bed is available for a 7th guest. The open-plan living/dining room features vaulted oak-beamed ceilings and light-filled spaces with remote-controlled Velux windows. French doors open to the side garden with a bistro table, perfect for a morning coffee before a countryside walk. At the rear, enjoy the private hot tub, BBQ, garden dining, and seating around the gas fire pit, ideal for relaxing after walks, winter adventures, or a food-focused day out. Families will also appreciate the nearby playground, perfect for younger guests to enjoy some outdoor fun. The kitchen is fully equipped with SMEG oven, SAGE coffee machine, Bosch washer/dryer and dishwasher, Fiskars knives, and ample baking equipment. Cupboards include basic condiments, herbs and spices for guests to use; please replace anything you finish. Grocery delivery and unpacking can be arranged on arrival. We provide walking guides and local recommendations. Filkins itself has charming village walks, the community village shop, perfect for picking up locally baked sourdough, local honey or seasonal treats, and The Cotswold Woollen Weavers and the Swinford Museum for local heritage and crafts. Nearby, explore Daylesford Organic, a must-visit farm shop and café showcasing seasonal gourmet produce, or make the short scenic drive to The Farmer’s Dog, a destination pub with seasonal menus, butcher, and bottle shop. Guest access With off street parking for 3 cars, guests have exclusive use of the entire property, including: Private hot tub, BBQ, garden dining area, and seating around the gas fire pit. Guests have complete privacy and can enjoy all amenities without restriction. Other things to note We have 2 friendly cats, Hattie & Heidi. We kindly ask guests to feed twice a day, top up their water and dry food. They usually keep to themselves, but may attempt to snuggle or leave the occasional “gift” from their nightly country adventures; it’s their way of saying hello! You may wish to keep bedroom doors closed at night. No large or loud parties, please, out of respect for our neighbours. The hot tub is for adults and supervised children only. Plastic wine glasses are provided for use in the hot tub. No glass please! The spiral staircase to the mezzanine bedroom is steep and may not be suitable for very young children or guests with mobility issues. Winter stays: The property is warm and cosy with a log burner, ambient garden lighting, and walking guides including winter-friendly countryside routes. Family & food highlights: The village playground, Cotswold Wildlife Park, and foodie destinations like Daylesford Organic and The Farmer’s Dog are nearby. Grocery delivery and unpacking can be arranged for your arrival.
