Designed by the acclaimed german architect Alexis Dornier around a collection of three historic artifacts. The design of our villa seeks to explore the boundaries of contemporary architecture and traditional Indonesian building styles. Located in the Penjiwaan Community, a home to artists, musicians, surfers, yogis, mothers, fathers and socially conscious entrepreneurs. Surrounded by a lush jungle this luxury house is only 15 mins driving to centre of Ubud and 7 mins away from Titi Batu Club Skylights and a floating mezzanine level highlight the three artifacts as ‘objet trouvés’. The house wants to be experienced in a three dimensional way by meandering along a transparent gallery, around a collection of objects in space. It forms plateaus to create different perspectives through the living room towards the inside and the surrounding exterior landscape. The gorgeous three bedroom glass walled home is very private. Enclosed living area overlooks the river and lush tropical forest. Under the loft like living room are two master guest suites with bathrooms – accessed through a suspended spiral staircase. The master bedroom is situated on the westerly end, forming a separate entity over looking the swimming pool. The composition seeks to give space and wall space to an eclectic collection of art, photography, fine art, and a collection of design objects from mid century modern to traditional Balinese crafted wooden sculptures. The suspended ceiling is made from compressed bamboo fiber, and all hard surfaces are made from polished lava terrazzo. All wooden floors are made from reclaimed teak wood. Transparent facades frame the buildings surroundings of lush the lush jungle of Bali. We call our house Twins House because we are parents to our lovely twins Mark & Alisa. We live in this house full time and only rent it out during school breaks. The town of Ubud, in the uplands of Bali, Indonesia, is known as a center for traditional crafts and dance. The surrounding Ubud District’s rainforest and terraced rice paddies, dotted with Hindu temples and shrines, are among Bali’s most famous landscapes. Ancient holy sites include the intricately carved Goa Gajah (“Elephant Cave”) and Gunung Kawi, with its rock-cut shrines. Our house has a swimming pool and a nice garden with beautiful plants. All the 3 separate bedrooms and the TV-room have an AC. The two biggest areas of the house (living room and kitchen area) do not have an AC, because of the sheer height of the ceilings. But, of course, these areas have fans you can use. You will have access to the most parts of our house with exception to couple of storage spaces where we keep our personal belongings. Our house is located in Mas Ubud, which is an artistic area, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The house is only 15 minutes driving distance from Center of Ubud and 7 minutes to Titi Batu club which features a gym, 25m swimming pool, cafe, children playground, sauna and more. Best way to get around in Bali is by renting a bike or a car.
