Beautiful Home in Northeast Harbor
With a truly unbeatable location, this renovated two-story home offers the active group a spacious and comfortable home at which to unwind after a full day exploring the beauty of Northeast Harbor village and Mount Desert Island. This space is so unique because it perfectly tempers the bustle and fun of Northeast Harbor's most popular areas with the cozy refuge of a quiet street and shaded property lot. We sometimes forget how close we are to everything, until we walk less than five minutes in any direction from our front door! Guests will have access to the entire property and all that comes with it. They will also be only a call, email, or shout away from two wonderful care takers living nearby. We will most likely not be present at the listing during our guests' stay, but our care takers will certainly be nearby, as they live nearby and maintain the property year-round. The neighborhood is summer fun incarnate. Past the large backyard and across the street are a small swimming pool and basketball court, further still is a large baseball diamond. Not five minutes down the road you will find the recently renovated Northeast Harbor library, with a quiet place to read and reflect and a vast economy of books and films to check out on generous terms. Further down the road you will find Main Street, which holds a wide variety of local shops and restaurants. At the end of the road is a small community center and an affordable gym. Down another road you'll find the harbor, lovely community tennis courts, and playing fields. But perhaps most incredible of all, you are only a few miles from Acadia National Park: By 1960, Acadia National Park had been granted over forty miles of carriage roads, sixteen dramatic stone bridges, two unique gatehouses and approximately 15,000 acres of land. These gifts, when combined with the generous donations made by Mt. Desert Island residents, enlarged the park to its present size of more than 35,000 acres. The park holds an additional 12,000+ acres in conservation easements. Within the Town of Mt. Desert, Acadia National Park manages more than 9,000 acres. Acadia is among the top 10 most visited national parks with most visitors coming in the summer and early fall. One of the greatest conveniences of our home is its close proximity to the Island Explorer bus service and the harbor, with ferry service to Cranberry Islands and other beautiful spots. There are two rooms with kings, two rooms with queens, one room with twins. One of the queens is on ground floor.
