Kintsugi @ Aikkya

Kintsugi - A heritage Kumaoni stone cottage, lovingly restored. This ensuite bedroom takes its name from the hand painted floor and painstakingly renewed interiors. On a side note, the Kintsugi bathroom also features a skylight! We are an unlikely combination of the wisest dog that ever lived (now followed around by his little brother Bolt), a right brained banker and a designer. Our shared love for travel and all things nice takes us places and we'd love to trade our stories for yours. The space The shared lounge/ workspace, adjoining sunroom, fenced sunset deck and ample open seating space on the level below Kintsugi, make it easy to spend all day doing nothing. Just soaking in the sun or enjoying a steaming cup of tea when it’s chilly.. Kintsugi is part of Aikkya Farms. Aikkya, spread over 7.5 acres, sits amidst a fruit orchard and is the only inhabitant of the entire hillside. Feel free to say hello to the resident cows, the dogs - Julie and Motu. The estate has a large dining/ lounge with a home kitchen serving simple home cooked meals and snacks. We try to organically grow or locally procure most of the food we eat. The bread is baked in house or bought from local bakers. Coffee is sourced from Coorg and ground fresh here. Breakfast is included. Other meals cost 450/ meal for Indian vegetarian/ non-vegetarian fare. Main meals are typically mini-buffets served in discussion with guests. We also have a small menu for snacks and drinks. There is also a space for self reflection and discovery that we call ‘Turiya’. Meditation, Art or Yoga classes can be organised at an additional cost based on teacher availability. Lots of interesting walks and hikes to be discovered within the estate itself while the reserved IVRI forest is at walking distance. Leopard sightings are common here. A 15 minute hike also takes you to a majestic view of the Nanda Devi range on clear sky days. Guest access The entire 7.5 acres is accessible to guests and all common areas. During your stay Either of us will be available at Aikkya during your stay or will be only a phone call away, if travelling. Other things to note This is a farm. An orchard. A Jungle. There are cows and dogs and insects who call it home. Stay with us only if you are comfortable with them. We don’t have 100% power back up. Inverter backup is available which keeps the wifi steady as well. However, power cuts are not longer than 10-15 minutes if they happen, unless there is a fault in the line. In such cases we will make your stay as comfortable as possible however will request your understanding as life in the hills can be unpredictable. There is no room service. Food is served and eaten only in the dining area. Housekeeping is on request and towels/ linen is changed once a week for long stays or at longer intervals as requested. Water is scarce everywhere and in the hills we try to keep our carbon footprint small. Any mishaps will of course be catered to so that your stay is comfortable. Just a few house rules to make your stay pleasant: Please go through the Airbnb listing in detail so that you know what to expect. We are not a hotel. This is a passionately curated stay and food experience and hence only listed on Airbnb. Food is best enjoyed hot in the dining lounge hence we don’t bring it out to the cottages. We leave outside shoes at the door. Slippers are provided for your comfort indoors. Toilet paper is best kept out of the WC (yes we’ve had blockage problems in the past 🤷‍♀️). Please use the dustbin for disposal. Please treat the space and other guests with respect and love and enjoy your stay!
