Secluded 3 bedroom, 1900 English style brick farm cottage full of country charm, peace, tranquility and ambiance. On hidden private driveway with no passing traffic yet close to Wades Beach and Mashomack nature preserve. Tastefully furnished, and fully equipped. There is additionally the Association private beach looking across to the South Fork, complete with tennis court for additional exercise. Permit#2021-S-19 The space We have a converted former brick farm building built by European masons - one of part of the original Shorewood Farm that dates back to the early 1900s. possibly before. Imagine a farm house, barns, chicken coop, pig sty and even a place for the pheasant. The house has a special charm with "Old Country" feel - most definitely not cookie cutter!!. A home that has grown up in its environment. The ground floor offers both living, dining and sleeping areas with a tree covered terrace outside to escape the direct heat. Obviously the kitchen with equipment a plenty.. Attached is additionally a sun room for air-conditioned comfort and off that a large screened in dining porch be it for breakfast or those sultry evening get togethers. The ground floor additionally boasts two large bedrooms, both with queen sized beds and two full bathrooms. One bedroom (with four poster) even has its own terrace off -perfect for that quiet reading time. Upstairs, there is a very spacious bedroom with sufficient room for both a queen sized and single bed and plenty more. A full bathroom is attached upstairs with twin pedestal sinks, a claw foot tub beneath a skylight and separate roomy shower with bench. There is the mentioned large screened in porch for summer dining with barbecue outside. Additional outdoor terraces allow for those summer cocktails before (if you don't take advantage of the sunset from the private beach!). Cotton bedding and plenty of towels provided, as well as beach chairs umbrellas and so on.. Guest access As members of the local association our guests can use the private beach and tennis court - all within a 5 minute walk. Wades Beach, with lifeguards and facilities, is just two minutes away by car, five by bike. Sunset Beach is ten minutes away and at 2 minutes the Mashomack Nature Preserve is even closer. The local supermarket is under ten minutes away by car, and the village of Shelter Island Heights perhaps 3 minutes further. You can bike to anywhere!! Off Island on the South Fork the charming village of Sag Harbor with its artsy shops and restaurants is 15 minutes away by ferry and a short car ride. Beyond there are the Hampton tons of East Hampton, Sagaponack and Southampton. To the North is Greenport with its laid back old fishing/ whaling town ambiance with Southold and Orient beyond.. Close to vineyards on the North and South Fork of Long Island and plenty of farmers markets and local produce be it meat, fish or vegetable,. Other things to note We are members of the local association with access to their private beach and tennis court. The close by public Wades Beach has life guards and facilities. Parking permits are needed here but are available in advance from Town Hall.
