Description
Bed and breakfast in an old barn and village house from 1744 renovated with taste and comfort, for an exceptional mountain experience. In a medieval market town, the house is located in the heart of the mountains, on the GR10E. Close to Mont Valier, an emblematic figure in Le Couserans, it is at the crossroads of the Biros, Bethmale and Bellongue valleys, with picturesque stone villages. You will enjoy the terrace with views of the mountains, swimming pool, ping pong, bbq, etc! The space The suite has a bedroom for 3 people (a large double bed and a single bed separated by a curtain), as well as a private living room that can accommodate 2 people (unfoldable bench in bed 160), overlooking a beautiful and large bathroom. Be careful, the access staircase to the living room and the one then to the bedroom are a little steep (see photos). The lounge gives access to a small balcony with great views over the mountains. The bedroom upstairs has two velux, with views of the high mountains on one side and a view of the hills on the other. The bright bathroom is equipped with a double Italian shower and a bathtub. The house has a large south-facing terrace, with stone BBQ and deckchairs available. In the garden you will find a small swimming pool (2 x 3m, unheated, open from May-June depending on the weather), ideal for relaxing after the effort, having an aperitif, or cooling off on a hot summer day. Next to a gravel lot where you can play bocce, ping pong, badminton, molkky... (equipment available) We have three cats at home, watch out for people with allergies! Cat lovers on the other hand will be delighted. Breakfast is included in the accommodation price and can be served indoors or outdoors. We also offer a paying table d 'hôte service to book the day before, with lunch basket (10€), dinner in the evening (22€), as well as a drinks menu. We take an eco-friendly approach: wood burning (log burner), renewable electricity obtained from Enercoop, EU Ecolabel certified toilet and maintenance products, local and/or organic food or vegetable garden as much as possible. Guest access *On foot or by bike* At the entrance of the village of Bordes sur Lez (coming from Castillon-en-Couserans), wooden signs in the name of the guest room "Les Chatougoulis" will guide you from the main road, taking the bridge to the hamlet of Ourjout, to the house. *By car* At the entrance of the village of Bordes sur Lez, coming from Castillon-en-Couserans, wooden signs in the name of the guest room "Les Chatougoulis" will guide you from the main road, taking the slightly narrow bridge to the right towards the hamlet of Ourjout, towards a parking lot in the hamlet located 20 m from the house. If the bridge seems too narrow, or to drop off your belongings directly at the foot of the house, a wider road allows access to a private parking space directly on the plot. You must then continue on the main road and cross the village of Bordes sur Lez. At the exit of the village, after leaving the Edf hydropower station on your right, immediately to the right after the bridge a road leads directly to the hamlet from the back. Continuing straight ahead you will reach a very narrow passageway: your arrivals, the house makes an angle. Please let us know if arriving by this road. *By public transport* You can get to Toulouse, Boussens or Foix by train or night train. The 452 bus takes you to St Girons from Boussens (1 connection/day with Toulouse as well), and the 454 from Foix. Boussens train station is the one offering the most frequent connections, with systematic bus connection to Saint Girons. From Saint Girons, the 455 bus serves Bordes sur Lez directly (stop 350 m away) at certain times, on others it stops at Castillon-en-Couserans and transportation on request (to be booked the day before) stalled on the schedules allows you to finish the journey. Bus timesheets can be found on the "LiO" region website. Feel free to also look at the options offered by carpooling (blablacar). * Transport service * We offer a transport service to allow you to drive to Castillon-en-Couserans (7€), Saint Girons (30€), the TER station in Boussens (60€) or Foix (75€), the Maison du Valier (15€), or other destinations on request (start/end of hikes, etc.) During your stay We will be at your disposal to advise you on ideas for outings, hikes, take you around the vegetable garden, etc. Other things to note The house is located in the medieval village of Ourjout, with its 11th-17th century church and 13th century bridge. The village, Bordes Uchentein, was held in the "Mon Beau Village" competition in the "Heritage" category. There are 5 churches dating from the 11th to the 18th century, 3 of which are listed as Historical Monuments. The one in Ourjout in particular has murals decorating the chorus dating back to the 12th century in a state of remarkable conservation. Castillon-en-Couserans, with all amenities, is 2 km away. It's a paradise for hiking and cycling. The house is 300 m from the GR10E and on the road to the passes, offering a comfort stop on the crossing of the Pyrenees. The nearby Riberot Valley is the starting point for many magnificent hikes, including the one going up Mont Valier, the iconic peak of the Couserans. The hamlet is also located at the crossroads of the Biros and Bethmale valleys, and not far from Bellongue valleys. The Biros Valley offers magnificent hikes, on the balcony with views of the chain, to circuses, old mines or to peaks such as the peaks of Crabère or Mauberme. The Bethmale Valley leads to the core pass with its magnificent views and numerous hiking departures, passing through Lake Bethmale (15 minutes from the house by car), renowned for its splendid colors and accessible to all (PMR). The Bellongue Valley leads to the village of Saint Lary and the famous Portet d 'Aspet pass. These three valleys are home to picturesque stone villages that will delight amateurs. We will be happy to inform and advise you on hiking routes and ideas of things to do nearby adapted to your desires. For the most cyclists among you, the house is surrounded by passes regularly borrowed by the Tour de France. You are at the foot of the Col de la Core and a short drive from the Portet d 'Aspet pass. A little further you will find the Col d 'Agnes, the Col de Menté, the Col du Portech... and many others!
