Spacious sea-side house with magnificent views

This was my grand-parents house. Built in the 60s as one of the first houses in the bay of Altea in a place with spectacular views of the sea and the mountains and just 300 steps to the beach. Big garden, terraces in all directions, lots of light and everything we ever needed to be happy. We spiced it up with a pool and AC, but you can still see the marks of four generations adding their own loving touches, so this is not one for the purists. But a place to be happy with family and friends. The space This is a house from 1964 with a list of modifications, not a recently built architects villa. But we have been lucky, because the original structure still works: Big windows, high ceilings, great views. Possibly today we would not have a separate kitchen. It does not strive to be luxury accommodation, but we think it has everything it needs. If not, let us know and come back next year. Most of all, it is beautifully located, in the bay of Altea, a quick but steep walk to the sea, and on a generous plot, with more terraces than you can count and plenty of space for a large group of people. However, it is not in the city of Altea and not well-served by public transportation, so we do recommend that you hire a car, which is surprisingly cheap in Spain. Of the five bedrooms two have en-suite bathrooms. The main bathroom has a full bathtub. Soon we will also renovate an additional bathroom accessible from the outside. The main living room table seats eight people, but the outside table is big enough for all. There is new central air-conditioning for the house, for those that need it. Windows come with shutters and mosquito netting. Yes - mosquitos are the one annoying feature. We are currently only renting the downstairs part of the house. We are applying the finishing touches to the 1st floor and once that is ready, it will give you more space. But everything that is in the photos will be be accessible for you and to nobody else during your stay (except for the gardener). New this year is the fibre connection - finally really fast Internet. And as the city water supply had outages this year, we fitted a new cistern to bridge any gaps. Tourist license number: VT-488904-A Guest access You can reach the beach either going down two long flights of stairs or one flight of stairs and 300m along the road. The next super-market is 250m along the road. Altea is a 4 km jog away along the beach or a few minutes by car. There are marinas to keep or hire boats and kayaks within walking distance: Mar y Montaña and Campomanes There is space for three cars in the grounds and more parking just in front of the house. 45 minutes to Alicante airport, about one hour to Valencia airport. Other things to note For those with dogs: One of the few Spanish beaches allowing pets is within easy walking distance. Note that the left side of the beach just below the house permits nudists - so if you don't like the occasional sighting of naked elderly men, then keep to the right side. One of our neighbours facing the mountains is a small hotel, which is not completely blocked out by the trees. The terraces facing the sea are not affected, but at the pool you may be within line of sight.
