Cosy thatched cottage with large secluded garden

This lovely light and cosy detached cottage is our primary home, rented out whilst we are travelling. The cottage is in a tucked away spot, yet only 2 minutes walk to the centre of this small, friendly town - 2 pubs, a convenience store, café/Deli, Indian restaurant, bakers, post office and more! perfectly positioned for exploring Dartmoor, Exmoor and the beautiful beaches or enjoying the many local walks. At night, the stars are amazing! The walled, south facing garden is a haven for wildlife. The space Our cottage is a detached grade 2 listed building built of stone and cob with some parts dating back to the 1700s. There are some interesting features such as original beams and a large inglenook fire place with bread oven. Downstairs there is a large, well equipped kitchen and sunny garden Room, a family bathroom, and living room with a clean burn woodburner. There is also a utility room with washing machine and dryer. Upstairs you will find two large double bedrooms (both with original beams) a small single bedroom and a small bathroom. The walled, south facing garden is large and totally private and attracts a variety of wildlife including many birds, frogs, newts, dragonflies and hedgehogs. There is a fire pit and wood store. An outdoor table tennis table is also available. On a clear night, the stars are amazing! The historic Saxon hill town of Chulmleigh boasts a 14th century church and in the area, 200 listed buildings. You will also find a pay and play par 3, 18 hole golf course and club house with wonderful Dartmoor views and drinks terrace, a gym, tennis courts, large playing fields with a brand new adventure playground as well as a designated dog walking area. Further a field you will find Dartmoor, Exmoor, and some beautiful beaches both on the North and South Devon coast. 2 pubs 2 minutes walk away, lots of pubs a short drive away. You can park outside of the house or across the road in the car park. (see 'where you'll be' section for more details about Chulmleigh.) Guest access Guests have exclusive use of the house and garden. Other things to note Original wooden beams in the hallway and bathroom are quite low - but have 'mind your head' flags so you don't bump your head! All bedding is 100% cotton. Toiletries are mainly by 'Faith in Nature' which is vegan and refilled at our local deli shop in Chulmleigh. Maximum of two pets please - unless tiny! please message!
