Great little studio apt/writer's, artist's retreat overlooking our flower and vegetable garden with room to sit out on the deck under the mulberry tree. Large bathroom, studio size kitchen, bedroom/living area combined. Private living space over the stand alone garage. We are near downtown within walking distance. Museums, Guthrie Green, art galleries, ball park, BOK, Cox Center. BMX, Historic Greenwood. Extra steps are being taken during pandemic for your safety... see Profile. There must be something that inspires the imagination at this little tree house. At least one novel has been written here, a handful of songs, a painting, or two, a portion of a graduate thesis, say nothing of the amazing magnetic poetry I am greeted with upon the departure of most of our guests :-). To encourage creativity and enhance the 'retreat like' nature of the space, there are no electronics available, save lights and plug ins for your laptop/cellphone. I say we are in walking distance to the Brady Arts District, BOK, Cox and more. Our European guests and younger guests agree. Our older guest or those who are not used to taking a 10-12 block walk will not ;-). Our tree house apartment is next to a big mulberry tree in the back yard. ( please make note that it is a hefty climb up the stairs to get to the apt. ) The apt is cozy and is decorated in a woodsy kind of way. Double bed with new mattress. Absolutely no smoking/pets. I really don't want small children in the apt due to the very steep and numerous stairs. I also request that there be no deep frying as we don't have a vent hood and it is a fire risk, and stinks up the place ;-). We have all your cooking supplies, fridge, microwave, stove. Claw leg tub. I will warn you in advance that it is a 100 year old tub or so.. and there are hard water stains and it is porous. It is not going to look shiny and new but it will be clean :-). In the warmer months the yard is really pretty. Not so much though in the winter. We have a veggie garden, multiple flower gardens and a water garden. We just added a little electric fireplace just for fun. It really puts off the heat but you don't need to use the heat if you just want to see the flames and use it for ambiance alone. as the apartment has a gas wall heater. Please note that this isn't a fancy hotel but a quaint little get away. Expect a nearly 100 year old property (We are on the National Register of Historic Places) where not every corner is straight, and some of the windows have a trick to them :-) I am very picky about smoking in my little get away. I don't know how many people have thought they could open a window and it wouldn't leave a trace. It does! We can smell it and so can the non smoking tenants who follow you. Please, please do not smoke in our little house. Now that medical marijuana is legal in Oklahoma I’m also requesting that if you use marijuana products that you also do not use anything that leaves a scent, like vaping or heating marijuana oils, and of course smoking. Our future guests thank you It makes me feel so good when people leave our home as they found it. It is a kindness, and I appreciate it. I especially like to read the new poems that you guys leave with the magnetic poetry on the fridge and look forward to seeing the strange new ways our little artist's model is posed :-) If you consider that this is an urban farm you will be a happy camper as there are water collection tanks, hoses, garden tools etc that you might not see at the average home. We use the space under the stairs as a garden storage area so there are all sorts of stakes, buckets, shovels, rakes and such. We also use the permaculture method of gardening and so even the garden isn't going to look like your standard, straight line, no weed garden... we eat many of the “weeds “ and the edible ones are allowed to flourish where they wish. This is not a good place to bring your toddler due to the steep stairs and access to cleaning chemicals. We want to make you as happy as we can, and we hope that you will give us a five star rating in return. I attempt to make you aware of every plus and minus so that you can give a five star rating for accuracy, location and cleanliness in all good conscience. We try to be as eco friendly as possible so when you arrive you will have to turn on AC or heat ( we do keep the heat on low in the winter so as not to freeze the pipes. We hang out the sheets and towels ( solar drier ;-) when we can. We ask that you turn off the lights, and AC before leaving and return the heat to the lower setting. Leave the key by the door where you found it and do not lock the door when you make your final departure. Thanks! https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/695/being-a-considerate-guest https://www.airbnb.com/d/travel-insurance?fbclid=IwAR2c7O0Y3Ls0M6KoXI5PEI5lmPjs5_Tio4u4_v0bZIUvx3kMsvfXfGafTVE Feel free to wander around the yard, and through the gardens, staying on the paths, of course. Stop and smell the roses ;-) My husband has asked me to add a request that guests park in such a way to leave us plenty of room to get safely out of our driveway. Thanks! If you would like to visit the artist studio please let me know. Happy to show you around. Check houseconcertsunlimited to see if we are having a concert when you are here. suggested donations are usually around $15-20. We do love to share our city. If you would like company let us know. Otherwise we will stay out of your hair. If there is something you need and an average house usually has it, then I probably do in the big house.... please ask. I have loaned out scissors, tape, kitchen utensils etc. Very walkable. Check out the community garden right behind our home and a little north on Cheyenne street. Walking distance from all the hotspots downtown and even a golf course. We actually have a sweet little coffee house and bookstore just seven houses to the south and two lots to the east of us. Check it out when you’re here. My husband and I feel very comfortable walking from the house to downtown by day but would suggest you drive or take an uber/lyft to get home after dark. You may see a homeless person or two as you near the downtown area and if that worries you in any way then I would suggest you drive or take an uber. I will leave a list of my favorite downtown and near by haunts. Ask me if you are looking for something specific... great outdoors? great restaurants for every income level? free activities? route 66 must sees? Just ask. parking is in the street. There is public transit near by. Very easy to get to from the airport. Uber and Lyft available. There are a few odds and ends of shampoo, toothpaste, conditioner in the bathroom, coffee, cream, sugar in the kitchen. There are also odds and ends of condiments in the fridge. Sometimes guests traveling by plane leave unopened goodies for you as well. Use whatever you wish. Please check out before 10 or ask if you need more time. If there is no one booked that evening I am often open to a later check out. Just ask. I have a hairdryer in the big house that I can loan you if you forget yours. Also best not to run hair dryer/microwave/electric heater all at once. The Wi-Fi is quite reliable but we are not responsible for outages that might happen through the AT&T server
