Stonefire Cottage at Lake Wandawega

Welcome to our simple, rustic cottage steps away from peaceful Lake Wandawega. It’s an old house and fancy is not the experience, so if you’re expecting bells and whistles and a cobweb or bug free stay, Stonefire Cottage isn't for you. We like to mention that upfront so we don't under deliver against your expectations. 3 minute walk to beach, swimming, fishing & picnicking and just a short drive to hiking, biking, skiing & horse back riding. Available for wknd/weekly/monthly rentals. The space If you're expecting high end, Stonefire Cottage isn't for you. Our cottage is a unique rustic space that offers beautiful lake views in a peaceful setting. It provides a spacious front and back yard with a fire pit along with a large wrap around porch and a screened in sun deck. There is a separate garage with availability to park up to two additional cars in the driveway. We are in the process of fixing up the garage, so we apologize that it is currently unusable. The interior house has plenty of new amenities, but it's still rustic with lots of character and charm. It's simply a cozy place that feels like home. Guest access You get the entire house. It's a small 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house. The downstairs bedroom has a full size bed and the two upstair bedrooms have queen size beds. Additionally, we have 3 single beds in the open area upstairs. In both full bathrooms, there are toiletry items and clean towels for you to use during your stay. In fact, it's not reflected in the current photo, but we upgraded the downstairs bathroom several years ago with new flooring and a bigger vanity. We have AC, but in the summer when it’s hot, the upstairs is still warm. It’s an old house with limited returns, so the AC cools the downstairs level nicely, but you will most likely need to use the ceiling fans and portable fans upstairs still. The tap water is totally drinkable, but since we live in the country it may taste a little different to you if you aren't use to well water. The kitchen is stocked with all sorts of cooking tools and utensils for you to use. You can also help yourself to any of the condiments left in the fridge and pantry items in the cabinets. We have Internet as well as a bunch of board games and books in the living room for you to borrow during your stay. Please make sure to return anything you use prior to your departure. You'll also find extra blankets in the coffee table trunk in the living room and beach towels in the wardrobe closet in the downstairs bathroom. Other things to note Our home is in the country, so even with regular cleaning some you may find a cobweb or two and some small flying bugs that sneak in when the doors open. We apologize in advance, but please think of that as part of the rustic country charm Stonefire has to offer. And because we are in the country, mice and other country critters like to hang out in the woods, so do not leave any food out – please store food in the fridge or in storage containers. We do have AC, but given the house was built in the early 1930's, it isn't perfect. While the downstairs gets nice and cool, the upstairs can still feel warm in the summer months, so we recommend using the ceiling and portable fans too. The thermostat is located in the downstairs bedroom. Feel free to set it to your desired temperature during your stay, but if you could return it to 74 degrees prior to checking out we would greatly appreciate it. In the upstairs smaller bedroom, the light switch needs to be turned on in order for the ceiling fan and outlet to work.
