Description
Welcome to Miss Libby. A lovely mix of historic charm and modern conveniences. This 125 year old row house is 4 blocks from Libby Hill Park, where you can see the view that named Richmond. Oozing with character, this home features exposed brick walls, high ceilings, 4 fireplaces (1 works), & local art. Enjoy all Church Hill has to offer & rest easy in the yellow home on rainbow row. *One cleaning every other month included in base rate. The space From the front door, you’ll walk into the living room. There is a new nice sized couch, two smaller chairs, a coffee table and a television. There is also a working gas fireplace in the living room. Continue on and you'll enter the dining room, which includes a new dining table and 4 chairs. It is a great space to eat or work from home. There is also high-speed wifi throughout the house! The bathroom downstairs is very tiny. It includes a lovely old school clawfoot tub. Guests are welcome to use it, but fair warning: it is small. Your host is 5 ft tall and fits in comfortably, but taller folks might not enjoy as much. At the end of the first floor is the kitchen, which includes a new stainless steel refrigerator, gas stove and microwave as well as a dishwasher. There is everything you need to cook a full meal. Although, I really advise you to take advantage of the Richmond food scene while in town (see my guidebook for recs)! The primary bedroom is at the front of the house, on the top floor. This bedroom has a king bed (Birch mattress), desk with chair, two nightstands, a luggage rack, and nice sized closet. There are two lamps with USB ports. The 2nd bedroom is also on the top floor, just down the hallway from the primary bedroom. This bedroom has a queen bed (Nectar mattress), dresser, two nightstands, a luggage rack, and nice sized closet. There are two lamps with USB ports. The upstairs bathroom includes a standing shower with a large opaque glass window. Fabulous natural sunlight shines through. The back bedroom includes a full size bed with Lucid mattress, desk and chair. The closet in this room is used as the cleaner's closet and is off limits to Airbnb guests. Abstract paintings hung throughout out the house are by Richmond local artists, William Corprew (@80bydesign) and Helena Magnusson Ogburn. This home is great for healthcare professionals, folks relocating to Richmond, remote workers and those in need of insurance stays. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house and outdoor spaces. Other things to note Miss Libby is a safe space for folks from all minority and marginalized groups. Guests of all races, faiths, genders, and sexual orientations are welcome. 100% of the cleaning fee goes directly to the cleaning team. Thank you! An amenity welcome kit will be provided when you check in. You will need to purchase your own products once they run out. Kit includes toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, dish soap, coffee, EVOO, salt & pepper. There are no designated parking spots. There is free street parking though, and you can almost always find a spot just in front of the house. Please be mindful of street cleaning signs that pop up every once in a while. There is no Cable tv, just Wi-Fi channels. We provide a Netflix account for guests to use. Feel free to log into any other accounts with your own login info. This house was built in 1900! That said, there is a lot of historic charm and character. Yes, the floors are slightly sloped in some spots. Yes, you may hear some creaking and noises when the heat is on. Yes, the house is haunted (just kidding!). On very cold nights, the there is a subtle “thud” noise that can occur when the heat turns off. My partner has never noticed this, and no guests have commented on it, but I (Katelyn) have noticed. It’s common with the historic houses with airflow underground. It happens when the hot air flow stops and the ducts contract. Nothing to worry about. The floors upstairs are the original hardwood floors! Please be gentle on them. The clawfoot tub/shower in the first floor bathroom is smaller than average. A tall person might not want to shower in it, but there is another shower upstairs! The tub is great for kiddos. The next door neighbors occasionally smoke inside and the smell can seep through the walls, into Miss Libby. I apologize in advance if you notice this. Zep smoke odor eliminator is used between stays, as well as an ozone machine on occasion. Heat rises and in the middle of the summer (90+ degrees outside) it can get warm upstairs. Another old house quirk. I've provided thinner linens and portable fans that guests are welcome to use. Keeping the blinds/curtains closed helps keep the rooms cooler as well. And, yes, there is AC throughout the entire house.
