Welcome to Snug Owl Cottage and Starved Rock Country! Relax and feel the Hygge after hiking the parks in your own clean and private dog-friendly tiny house. •Starved Rock State Park 7.3 miles🚲 7.7 miles 🚘 •Matthiessen State Park 8.6 miles •Buffalo Rock State Park 12 miles Historic Downtown LaSalle is about a mile away, but you won’t want to miss nearby Utica and Ottawa, too. The Snug Owl is a house on its own private city lot with a backyard fire pit and is around 400 square feet. Snug Owl Cottage, a 20x20 foot tiny house on its own private lot, is like a cabin in the city where you and your dog can hang out by the fire pit or snuggle up on the futon sofa with a plush throw blanket and use the fast Wi-Fi to stream and cast your favorite shows on the HD SmartTV. You can also use the Snug Owl Netflix account while enjoying the ambiance of the electric fireplace. An open floor plan gives a more spacious feeling, with a partial wall dividing the queen Stearns & Foster bed in the sleeping area from the living area. There’s nothing like snuggling up in a clean bed after a fun day, which is why all of the quilts and bed linens, bathroom rugs and towels, and even sofa throw pillow covers are switched out between every stay and washed off site for the next guests. There is NO CLEANING FEE and NO PET FEE for up to 2 dogs. The kitchen, with a full size stainless steel refrigerator and glass cooktop stove, is separated from the living area by a bar-height island. The kitchen has everything necessary to cook full meals, or you can enjoy one of the many unique restaurants just a few minutes away. The living space is designed so that you can enjoy complimentary locally roasted gourmet coffee, tea, or hot chocolate while watching TV from the island or the futon sofa. The entire tiny home is designed to be human and dog-friendly, with comfortable and washable fabrics and furniture. You will have the whole tiny house and yard to yourselves if you prefer to sit outside and enjoy the peaceful neighborhood. We are not a corporate vacation rental and thank you for supporting our locally owned and operated small (tiny) business. Street parking in LaSalle is free, but some restrictions are in place for snow days. The home has off-street shell driveway parking for 2 vehicles. The Snug Owl is a tiny home on its own full city lot, so you’ll have access to the entire property. You’re welcome to message me or call at any time with any questions you may have and I will respond via text and/or in person if you prefer. Forgot something? Maybe I can help! I live in the neighborhood and I will give guests their privacy, but I’m just a few blocks away if you need me. I want you to experience everything the area has to offer and enjoy your stay, so please feel free to contact me 24/7. The Snug Owl is your peaceful home base within a few minutes of Starved Rock, Matthiessen, and Buffalo Rock, 3 gorgeous dog-friendly state parks. You’ll be less than 15 minutes from hiking, biking, horseback riding, kayaking, and more! Do you love to walk through quiet neighborhoods with beautiful vintage homes? This neighborhood has many 1920s bungalows, Tudor revivals, and storybook cottages. There is a little free library on the corner, an ice cream stand, a MiniMart, a park with a large public swimming pool and a Tuesday Farmers Market, and much more. Nearby Downtown La Salle has many dining and shopping options to suit a variety of tastes. You will need a car to visit the parks and get around, or you can bike to Starved Rock. The neighborhood is pedestrian and bicycle friendly. Downtown LaSalle (1 mile down the hill toward the river) is a short drive or bicycle ride, but it is a bit steep coming back! The I&M Canal towpath is a great place for bicyclists and runners. Locals often ride the towpath (about 5 miles) to nearby Utica to have lunch or visit a wine tasting room. Bicycle rental is available in warmer months at the corner of 351 and First Street in downtown LaSalle, outside the I&M Canal Visitor Information Center and Lock 16 Cafe. PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING: Well-behaved dogs and their humans are welcome at this property. Maximum overnight occupancy of 2 humans and 2 dogs. Please let me know in your intro message if you forgot to include your dog(s) in search criteria, so I can provide appropriate amenities. Dogs must be current on rabies vaccinations, protected by topical or oral flea and tick control, non-aggressive, and remain on a leash when outside. The neighborhood is great for dog walking, so I provide cleanup bags for dog waste so you can dispose of it correctly. A city ordinance prohibits leaving dogs tied up outside while unattended. Sorry, pets other than dogs are not allowed. Please, NO SMOKING OR VAPING of any kind in the home. You will be charged a minimum of $200 for extra cleaning for noncompliance, so please smoke outside away from open doors or windows and properly dispose of cigarette butts. The house is not suitable for toddlers and small children due to steps, sharp corners, breakables, and electric baseboard heat. It is truly a tiny home that sometimes seems larger in photos and we ask that you respect the guest count limit. It gets windy here sometimes, but you are welcome to use the fire pit on low fire-risk days. Please familiarize yourself with the garden hose and spigot location before you light a fire, keep the grate over the logs at all times to arrest sparks, and do not leave the fire unattended. Make sure it is completely out before leaving. You know, all the common sense stuff. 😎
