Our charming 2 room 1 bath guest house within walking distance to the Essex ferry, Park, shopping & dining. 1 room is an efficiency apt with loft a queen bed and a futon couch bed. Second room is a studio with full size bed, couch & twin loft w/fridge, & A/C's on both sides. Our guest house is a single unit that used to be 2 units from my Great Grandmas Motel. It was renovated and converted to a guest house for personal use but we don't use it very often so we thought to put it up on Airbnb. Although not the largest of places that you could stay it is quite homie the views are incredible, with 2 rooms and a loft bed, bathroom/plenty of hot water. there is plenty of room for a full family to stay, or 2 couples to have privacy. Each room has a small couch, tv, comfy chair and a good place to do work on a computer if needed. there is coffee maker, a small fridges and a small microwave, kitchen sink small kitchen table for 4 and a small breakfast bar for 2 Each side of the unit has ceiling fans & A/C. space heaters also available. All guests have use of guest house, parking space, covered front porch, barbecue, lawn furniture, fire pit, floats for the lake, canoe and kayaks, paddles & life vests. kayak & canoe launch on premises. a clothes line is attached to building, and two bicycles are available to you if you would like. This is our family guest house. Our main house is the white & green one with wraparound porch and on the other side of the guest house is my great grandfathers former summer home. {its Red}. Most likely myself or one of my family members will be at the main house next door so if you have any questions don't be afraid to come by, there are also plenty of locals who are very friendly and always willing to help if needed. The town of Essex is a wonderful place with a rich history, my Great Great grandfather Captain Mock founded the Essex Charlotte ferry and was also Captain of many Schooners and even the Ticonderoga for a time. My family has lived here for more than 75 years. I am proud to be a 4th generation to maintain our standing in this community. We have kayak/ canoe launch that can be used by any guest and a wonderful fire pit in the back yard of the main house, and a new fire pit in the yard of the motel with views of the lake. The town has three restaurants and a nice ice cream shop that serves lunch as well. the environment is safe and well suited for children that I'm sure will most definitely spend their time outside, with the park just down the road and plenty of land to explore around town as well as different museums. farms, shops, scattered around to visit, you won't get bored quickly. Fishing is more than promoted (as long as you're not using dynamite), if you have a jet ski or boat there is a launch $ within walking distance and trailer storage available on our property $. The C.A.T.S. trails are all over this area for hiking and bike routes are plentiful. Public transportation is very bare you either walk/bike, drive or take the ferry which runs from approx. 7am to 8pm other than that there are no buses or trains nearby. The guest house does not have an oven but it does have convection cook top and convection toaster oven, coffee maker, ice tea jug, small set of plates, mugs, cups, can opener, wine opener, knife set, silverware, a few pots ,pans and microwavable bowls.
