Vacation rental will be equipped with an electric pool heating system, you will need to pay the associated pool heat fees. Pool heater systems work along with the pool motors which means they are ON during the day and will automatically turn off overnight. Normal settings for the pool equipment and pool heaters are from 9am to 6pm daily. *Electric pool heating cost is $35.00 per day, minimum 4 days in a row. *If the guest only has a 3-night stay, we can turn on the day before so it warms up quicker or honor the 3 days, but we must explain to guest that chances are the water will only get to set temperature on their last day. The water temperature in the pool will always lose a few degrees overnight and will get back up to temperature during the day. If we have a cold front the pool water could lose around 10 degrees overnight. Pool heaters CANNOT be left running 24 hours a day which means that a morning swim will always be colder than an afternoon swim. Pool heater temperatures are set at 88 degrees for the pool and 98 degrees for the pool spa if available at the vacation rental home. If we have cold fronts/lower temperatures, the pool cannot retain the heat overnight and the pool water temperatures will mostly feel 10 degrees higher than the ambient temperature, this does not mean the pool heater is not working and pool heating fees will still apply. We are in a sunny state and normally 70-80 degrees year-round, but we do get surprised by low temperatures every now and again during the winter months. Pool heater fees apply from the day the pool heater is turned on until it is turned off. Homes with Electric Pool Heating: This is the most common pool heating method in our vacation rental homes. The pool will take between 24-48 hours (about 2 days) to heat up significantly and maintain a steady temperature but will always lose a few degrees heat overnight. Please note that if the outside temperature drops below 55 degrees, the heat compressor will shut down automatically and the pool water will lose heat. The unit will automatically turn back on when the temperature rises above 55 degrees. This is a safety measure and beyond our control, you should be aware that NO REFUNDS can be given on pool heat under these circumstances. SPA: Please note that when spas are activated, this will normally divert the heat source from the pool, just to the spa, which tends to heat up in around 30 minutes. Please ensure that when the spa is not in use, that the timer is switched off which will then divert the heat back to the pool. Once you have arrived and checked into your vacation rental if you feel there is an issue with the pool heating there are a few things you need to check before a call is made to the office stating the pool heater is not working. • Put your hand on the jets inside pool and feel if the water coming from the jet feels warmer than the water in the pool. • Make sure the water level is normal, if below the skimmer line the pool heater may turn off to protect the unit, please take hose available in vacation rental and add a few inches of water to re-start the pool heater (avoid splashing and jumping in the pool to make sure the water level withholds). • Pool heaters will run along with the pool equipment which means they will be ON during the daytime only; they usually go off around 6pm and come back on 8 or 9 am. • Pool heater cannot be left on 24 hours. Maximum pool heat temperature is 88 degrees, normal water temperature will be from 85 to 88 degrees. • Spa heating will work with automation timer on wall and not all Spa’s get warmer than the pool temperature of 88 degrees (if your spa does not bubble then it is only to be used as splash pool). Regular automated spa temperatures of 95 to 99 degrees can be expected. Please note that we are unable to accept individual requests to change pool/spa heat temperatures or the times that pool heaters operate. Do not tamper with any outside pool equipment or valves as these can easily break and are costly to repair. If we find that these have been tampered with the Guest will be deducted from their credit card on file for damages. Points to consider before making a “pool heat not working work order” • How long was the pool heater turned on versus the outside ambient temperature? • We should monitor it and if working it should rise a few degrees per hour. • Has the guest put their hands on the jets and felt no warm water? • Is the pool heat unit running outside? • Once we have changed the time by one hour then the pool motor may or may not start running from 10-7 daily instead of 9-6. • Please ensure guest is rinsing off their suntan lotions before jumping in the pool as this will clog the filter and the pool heater will shut down. Other things to note ****AC will not go down below 72F to prevent damaging the units by freezing the coils.
