Picturesque cottage backs onto the Georgian Trail The space The stone cottage is a studio style layout surrounded by a pastural field, heritage orchard and a 100 year old shagbark hickory tree welcoming guests to the cottage. The side patio invites you to a romantic dinner for two sheltered by stone ruins and a sumac "grotto". You will share the property with a variety of flora and fauna. In winter, imagine the utter silence of an early morning walk, making the first foot steps on the newly fallen snow followed by a hot coffee in front of the wood burning stove. The completely renovated cottage interior combines contemporary furnishings and beautiful rustic wood beam architectural elements. Enjoy the sound and smell of a crackling wood burning fire and the muted lighting cast from several ceiling lanterns. Added interest comes from the unique displayed artifacts dug out of the ground (with owner's metal detector) spanning almost 200 years of history. Guest access Cottage is located along highway 26 just 3 minutes from the downtown core of Meaford and 6 minutes from Thornbury. Cottage shares driveway with main stone house (owners) and is 300ft off main road. Other things to note The cottage water is potable, relying on a multi-staged filtering system with ultraviolet, sulphur and charcoal filters. The cottage is part of roughly 7 acres of property with Workman's Creek running through property which can be accessed by guests. Winter - Snow shoes are available to guests for use during their stay to make those deep snowy walks on the trail more enjoyable. Summer - Bring your bikes and ride the Georgian Trail to Meaford or Collingwood or beyond! 10 minutes to Town, marina and multiple beaches. Fall - Please enjoy a fresh picked apple from the Macintosh trees near the cottage/trail entrance or make a request to hosts to walk the orchard and find your preferred variety.
