Werry's Rock Farm Off the Grid Cabin in the Woods

The Werry's Rock Farm Cabin is a great place to escape from everything! It features a pond and short hiking trails with wood and river views and is near a state boat ramp. Being off the grid means that you can disconnect and enjoy the view provided by nature on a wrap-around porch. Solar panels provide enough electric for lights and basic recharging. Dinners can be made on the gas stove-top. The rain water catchment system provides enough water for flushing and washing dishes. No hunting please. The space The cabin is set inside of a natural "room" in the woods and is completely secluded. The driveway is about half a mile from the road and the host's home. The cabin has an open floor plan with a loft bedroom. The kitchen and bathroom are nested underneath the loft and the living room is open to the unique tin ceiling. A 'book nook' rests under the stairs and provides a perfect place to nap. The wrap around porch provides both an open and covered outdoor space and leads down to the swimming dock on the pond. Located near the borders of the host's property, trail markings will indicate where the property ends. A trail map is provided. No hunting. There is no shower, but there is a separate bathroom with a sink and toilet. Guest access Upon arrival, Rick the host will meet with you to provide instructions for the off the grid features of the cabin. There is space to park at the cabin location or vehicles can be parked on the host's property at the entrance of the driveway. The host's home is the only one on the road connecting to the cabin driveway and is about half a mile off of the main highway. There is quick and easy access to the Coolville gas station and restaurant, and Athens, Belpre, Pomeroy, Parkersburg, and Marietta are all within a 30 minute drive. Tuppers Plains is a 10-minute drive and includes Fox' Pizza, a Dairyette, carry-out stores, and the Coolspot Country Market. Other things to note The water in the cabin is NOT potable, but is suitable for washing dishes with soap. Thete is no shower, but a portable outdoor shower is available. A case of drinking water and a 3 gallon cooler of drinking water with a spigot is provided by the host. Please bring additional water if you need more. A percolator coffee pot and French press is provided for your coffee needs. A cooler is provided for you to use - but you will need to bring ice. There are NO kitchen appliances. Pots, pans, and cooking utensils are provided. Sheets and towels are also provided. Being in the woods means that there are critters around and they occasionally enter the cabin, although we try our best to keep them out. For this reason, paper products and other items are stored in tubs beneath the counters. Please feel free to utilize all items stored in the kitchen area.
