Peaceful Waterfront Escape on Church Creek

Welcome to "Big's Place". This house was once home of a great fisherman. Big Jim spent most of his retirement reeling in fish of all kinds from the Chesapeake Bay. He was a beloved figure on the Eastern Shore. The home is now owned by his three sons, who live in the Pittsburgh, PA area. They hope that others will appreciate the shore and all it has to offer just like their father, Big Jim, did. The space This 1680 square feet house has a large open floor plan and sits on 1.25 acres, surrounded by trees and impressive water views. It's the perfect place for fisherman, families, artists, or anyone just looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Relax on the wrap around deck where you'll see breathtaking sunrises and sunsets all year round. It's not unusual to catch a glimpse of the beautiful blue heron, who lives nearby and sometimes even sits on the dock. This peaceful place has something for everyone. Our property includes a private dock that sits on Church Creek. The Chesapeake Bay is easily accessible from Church Creek by your boat. Get outside and have some fun! Hit the water with the three provided Kayaks and Life Vests. Catch your dinner! During the summer months the crabbing is great! Crab pots are available for use. Bring your fishing poles and cast in a line. Inside the house are many attractive pieces of antique furniture as well as comfy reclining chairs and sofas to relax in after your day of exploration. There will be fresh towels to dry off with after a relaxing shower or bath, and a cozy bed to curl up in after you make dinner in the spacious kitchen. Access to Netflix, Disney +,Amazon Prime and more. 6 seat dining room table Kitchen island with 4 stools Sliding glass doors leading directly to dock and wrap around deck Large picnic table on deck Plastic Adirondack chairs *** Brand new gas grill as of October 2024*** Down the hall to the left is a bonus room with a fold out couch and small television (Fire Stick Streaming and Nintendo Wii) Hall closet with clean towels, wash cloths, and first aid kit Bedroom #1 with queen bed, no TV Full bath with tub/shower, one vanity Bedroom #2 with queen bed, walk in closet, small smart TV (no cable but has streaming capability), attached full bathroom, walk in shower, one vanity 2nd Floor/Loft: Large open loft with queen bed, walk in closet, attached full bathroom, pool table, no TV All bedrooms and bonus room have closet space with hangers and dressers The fireplace is not functional but there are electronic candles that are controlled by remote control for ambiance. Guest access You do not have access to the boat, boat lift, garage or owner's closets. Other things to note INTERNET: We have DSL internet which is not super fast. It works fine to stream on our TV's. However, if you have several devices hooked up to the Wi-Fi at the same time the internet will slow down. We suggest not hooking up your cellphones or other devices to the DSL internet while watching TV. Before having DSL our family would use our mobile hotspots on our phones to stream, use our laptops etc. which worked well. IMPORTANT NOTE: We have a deer head trophy mount near the apex of the ceiling in the living room and two fish mounted in the loft. We realize these might be offensive to some and wanted to disclose. Our house is regularly inspected for pests , however, sometimes stray bugs end up inside, especially if doors and windows are being left open. It is not environmentally ideal for the Bay to regularly spray, so there is a chance, you could see a bug. These quickly die inside and are not a cause for concern. They are harmless but can be alarming to guests who aren't familiar. Seeing them has been rare, but if you have any questions before or during your stay, we'd be happy to answer them and/or direct you to our exterminator, Ken.
