Cheerful, Restored 1940s Cape- 5 mins to Woodstock
Description
Nestled at the edge of the hamlet of South Pomfret, this restored private home is a wonderful all-seasons retreat. Enjoy the view of the meadow and mountains. Listen to the sound of the nearby stream while sitting by the fire. Enjoy the ease of walkability to the Teago General Store, Artistree Arts Center, Grange Theater, the Appalachian Trail or ski Saskadena 6 (formerly Suicide 6). 5 min drive to Woodstock, 30 mins to Killington. The possibilities for exploration and relaxation are endless! The space Welcome to our restored 1940’s Cape in South Pomfret, VT! We had a lot of fun reimagining the 1763 square foot space and filling it with a mix of new, vintage, and locally made furniture pieces (the dining room table is made from a cherry tree that fell on the furniture maker’s car up in northern, VT!) and reclaimed materials (bowling alley lanes for kitchen counters!). When we spend time here we feel a sense of peace and comfort that we hope you experience as well. The first floor has an entryway, open living room, dining room, kitchen area, a large bedroom with king sized bed off the living room, a small bedroom with bunkbeds (hold maximum weight of 300 lbs) near the kitchen and a brand new full bath near the bunkbed room. The living room has a Jotul wood burning stove, and a lovely 3-season screened-in porch is set off the kitchen with wonderful views of Suicide Six. The second floor has a nice sized room with a queen bed, a larger bedroom with a queen bed, desk and open area, a brand new full bath, and a brand new laundry room with washer and dryer. All mattresses, bedding, pillows and towels are brand new and very comfortable. The screened-in three season porch with twin ceiling fans is a great place for meals, relaxing or working. The back and side yard have a lovely micro-orchard with a table, grill and fire pit for your use. The property has flat and hilly areas, as well as grassy and tree-covered portions. It is half an acre but feels much larger given its views and connection to the adjacent meadow. If you will be working remotely at the house, there are many locations to choose from and to spread out from others. The desk in the upstairs bedroom is a great place to close the door and have some quiet. The dining room table or kitchen bar stools have lovely light coming in, and in good weather the table on the screened porch, especially the seat at the head of the table is a coveted work spot. Guest access You will be given a private code to the key pad at the front door. Your code will be activated during your stay. Use that code to unlock and lock the door. Other things to note We are lucky to have high speed fiber optic internet with over 580 mpbs of service at the house. We have set up wifi access points that provide even wifi coverage throughout the house. YouTubeTV provides live local and cable channels and you can easily cast movies or shows from any app to the smart TV. In South Pomfret there is no cell reception with any carrier at the moment, but you can make calls at the house by enabling calls over wifi on your phone. We have a back-up battery at the house that acts as a generator. It will keep the house powered during a power outage for approximately 2 days. It will last longer if fewer electronics are plugged in and less lights are on. It will also recharge through our solar panels if there's enough sunlight. If a power outage happens, there may be a quick flicker of lights as the power source transfers over from the grid to the battery, but it’s possible the switch will happen seamlessly and you won’t even know that there’s a power outage in area!
