This charming, vintage home, which we affectionately call the "Barber's House" was built by the town's barber, Howard Tschirhart, in 1943. The space Centrally located in downtown Castroville, the Barber's House is only a few blocks away from nearby local shops, restaurants, and event venues. Come for the peace and quiet of a small town (about 30 minutes west of nearby San Antonio), but stay for the rich history and culture this town has to offer. Established by Alsatian and German settlers in the 1840's, Castroville is still deeply tied to its European roots with historic homes, churches, and buildings located around the town. This house has the charm of a mid-century small town home with a two room layout, including an original farmhouse sink and counterweight windows. Add-ons through the years have contributed to the unique floor plan and although built in the 1940's, the Barber's House was styled in the Alsatian tradition of having two front doors. You will find that the Barber's House is the perfect place to stay to experience the culture of historic Castroville, TX. Other things to note Failure to follow the house rules may result in additional charges and / or termination of your reservation. Damages will be charged to the guest and reported to Airbnb. Please treat our home like it's your home. No pets allowed. A $200 fee will be applied if a pet(s) is spotted on the property or evidence is found within the house. No smoking, vaping, or open flames. A $500 fee will be applied if smoking or vaping occurs within the house. No third party reservations. Booking for someone else complicates communication between host and guests. No parties or events. No illegal activities. The number of guests staying must match the number of guests on your booking. If they do not match, we have the right to terminate your reservation and / or charge an additional fee of $25 per person, per night. Please note there is a security camera on the exterior of the house used for security purposes and protection of the property. It is on and actively recording. Please use backdoor (patio area) to enter the house. Front doors not accessible. Keypad entry (code provided prior to check-in) Kitchen appliances include microwave, griddle, and induction cooktop with pots and pans. There is no oven in this space.
