Waterfront Cottage-Sailor and Piper’s Sandbox

Sailor and Piper’s Sandbox was built and designed with Love …especially for our granddaughters Sailor, Piper, and Ridley Banks. Our beach cottage reflects authentic beach vibes inside and outside. You immediately get a feeling of home when you enter and will appreciate our attention to detail with pine and juniper wood from floor to ceiling, boat lights, brass port hole mirrors, etc. It's a place to relax, fish, kayak, commune with nature...great sunrises and sunsets. The space 4x4 Vehicles are a Necessity! …it’s a sandy beach road. Sailor and Piper's Sandbox (previously known as Sound Serenity), is is a cottage with an open concept design. While cooking in the kitchen you can easily converse with people sitting at the bar area and den. I remind guests that since this is a rural area there is no municipal water system it is well water. I recommend bringing bottled water for drinking and for the counter top ice maker. Laundry room is adjacent to the kitchen and can be closed off with a French door when needed. The Master bedroom is accessible to the downstairs bathroom with a pocket door. There are french doors leading out of the master bedroom to a cozy reading nook. There you can enjoy books, game’s, and movies provided in the bookcase. Contrary to our beliefs of “beach life “ we have added WiFi…remember this is a rural area and internet speed is slow. Be sure to bring your info for logging into Netflix, HBO, Pandora, etc. for the ROKU TV and sign out before leaving. We only have one TV… remember it’s a vacation to enjoy the bonding time with your significant other, family, friends, etc. Upstairs is an open loft design with a queen size bed at one end and bunk beds at the other. There is also a bathroom upstairs. Plan to relax on one of the two covered porches or bring some lawn chairs to enjoy the beach. We have stairs leading down to the water and sandbars (when the tide is low). Sailor and Piper's Sandbox is a place to come unwind, savor the moments away from the noise and hustle of everyday…it is a place where a child, children or grown up’s can come to relax. As a child I was blessed with the opportunity of growing up on the Outer Banks and I want to share my rural experience with others. Our cottage is not a fancy place, but it’s a home that has been built with love and we plan on sharing many many memories with our grandchildren Sailor,Piper, and Ridley. Guest access We have plenty of room to park 4 vehicles. *4x4 is recommended for access to the cottage due to the road being soft sand at times. Other things to note 4x 4,is a necessity due to the road being soft sand in several locations. Since we are located in a rural area we suggest guests pick up their groceries, bottled water (there is no municipal water system, it is well water), beach supplies like beach chairs, beach toys, etc. before arriving. Island Variety store on the island thrives to have the necessities you might have forgotten. WiFi- Connection can be temperamental and sometimes not as fast as we would like. It is a rural area. It’s those times I remind myself that we are on beach time, family/couple time, and/or vacation toes in the sand time. Time to unwind and relax. Located near us- Cedar Island/Ocracoke ferry, horse back riding, local fish houses. 45 minutes -hour away=Core Sound Museum, Cape Lookout ferries, Historic Beaufort, Morehead City, Fort Macon, NC Aquarium....We also have information on local fishing guides who offer 1/2-full day fishing and beach combing trips.
