Serene Nature Retreat near Acadia National Park
Serene Nature Retreat near Acadia National Park
Description
Blissfully secluded and tranquil, near the sea on the Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia—it's a perfect place to unplug. Close to hiking, biking, kayaking, beaches, and exploring islands or small lobster villages. Drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor in 50 minutes, or relax on the ferry ride. A queen bed, comfy living room and full kitchen provide the comforts of home. Rest in the window seat for a glimpse of bald eagles, snowshoe hares, deer, maybe even our resident moose. Take a slow life holiday. The space The living area is roomy and bright with comfortable chairs, a rocker, a big window seat (for wildlife watching, relaxing, and sunset gazing), a wall of interesting books, a sound system and a ceiling fan. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dining area, stove, microwave and full-size refrigerator. The bedroom has a queen size bed, closet, dresser and a ceiling fan. The bath has both shower and tub. The heat pump provides heating, cooling, or dehumidifying as needed. Cozy in to watch the wildlife or read; relax on the patio to dine, watch our gorgeous sunsets or star-gaze. And if you're really lucky, you might see the Northern Lights... or Patience, our local moose. Guest access There's dedicated parking beside the barn for your vehicle and any bikes or kayaks you might bring along. Everything is on the ground floor--no stairs. Other things to note Our setting is rural and very close to Schoodic Park, coastal views and activities. The area has bike and kayak rentals, villages with lobster shacks and small shops, gas stations/convenience stores, and farm stands within a few miles. If you need something from a bigger city, it's just 25 miles away. We're only about one mile from one of the loveliest sand beaches on the coast of Maine. The drive to the more populated side of Acadia National Park is less than an hour, or you can board a ferry in nearby Winter Harbor to get there by sea. If you're looking for night life, just turn off the lights and look outside--the fireflies can be dazzling! Or you might get lucky and see the Great Horned Owl swoop down from his perch on a nearby tree. An important note: Our property is strictly non-smoking. No kidding.
