This walkable area of the city is home to 150+ award-winning restaurants and chefs – with some of the freshest seafood and lobster in the world there is no better place for foodies to call home. The working waterfront has a charm of its own – you’ll find brightly colored lobster traps stacked along family-owned wharves and salty lobstermen pulling in their daily hauls. Just make sure to get a lobster dish at least once while you’re here. Besides a great dining experience, Maine is home to over 140 micro-breweries. Some of the cleanest snowpacks melt into the freshwater supply of the Casco Bay area, giving breweries a "blank" slate to work with. It’s why we’re known for producing some of the haziest and juiciest IPAs in the world. Here’s a fun fact: did you know prohibition started in the State of Maine? This happened an entire year prior to the federal laws going into effect. Portland is a walkable city. It’s easy to get around the Old Port. The harbor and other main attractions are within walking distance of your residence. Should the need arise, Uber/Lyft/Taxis are available almost anywhere in the area at a reasonable rate ($7-$20). Arrive in Portland via a number of transportation options. Fly in via the Portland Jetport (5 miles away/$18 ride) or take the Amtrak or Concord Bus Line to the Portland Transportation Center (2.5 miles away/$9 ride).
