There is a spring-fed pond that is great for swimming in the summer, and a trout stream that course 1500 feet through the property. The large yard and pasture are great for sports or simply strolling the property. A trail leads up the mountain side to a meadow, and then continues on to give access to public (NYC-DEP) land. The four-bedroom farmhouse can sleep up to 8, and includes a full kitchen, dining area, living room with wood stove, reading/art room and a game room with a pool/ping-pong table. There are two full bathrooms, one with a tub and the other with a shower; washer and dryer are also present. The farmhouse includes a large deck for outdoor dining, and the yard beside the house has a large fire pit as well as both propane and charcoal grills. The property was an active farm until about 2010, and other features include a historic barn, bridge across the stream and a gazebo. Neighboring properties include active farms with cattle, sheep, goats and horses. Cannonsville Reservoir, a 4700 acre lake that is part of the NYC water-supply system, is about a mile and a half down the road, easily accessible by foot, bike or car. During warmer months, we keep a boat at the boat-launch that can be used by guests. A free pass from the NYC-DEP allows access to more than 14,000 acres of NYC-owned property surrounding the reservoir; the property borders this land. Fishing opportunities abound in the area, with a trout stream on the property, fishing allowed (with permit) in Cannonsville reservoir, and the famed West Branch Delaware River nearby.
