Cabin in Lost River
Cabin in Lost River
Description
We envisioned this one room, design-forward cabin as a space for solo travelers, couples, artists, writers, and their dogs to unwind, center the self in nature, and find deep focus. It quickly became our happy place. Windows on all four sides ground you on the fully wooded lot, and the view from the spacious back porch evolves into new art throughout every season The space We chose materials from and of the earth: rough cut pine, birch, wool, marble, clay, cement, soapstone, linen, and cotton--and a comfy leather sofa for gazing at the fire. There's a bed for your dog, a sturdy desk and fiber wifi for getting work done should you choose, an excellent fireplace and antique wool rugs to keep cozy, a cedar lined bathroom, and a fully stocked, modern kitchen ready for serious cooking. The house sits on a 2.5 acre lot that runs about ten degrees cooler than the forecast--incredible for summer days and extra cozy in the snow. The woods are dense--full of evergreen ferns, mossy logs and boulders, and equipped with bird houses; you can see one from each side of the cabin. You can see the next cabin, but no one will bother you. You’ll be 22 minutes from Wardensville, 20 from Lost River State Park, and only 5 from Trout Run Park with excellent lake swimming and trails. We send an area guide ahead of time with top restaurants, places to buy excellent fresh produce and local meats and dairy, and other attractions. Finally, this cabin is our other space’s big sister, located a brief hike away through the woods–far enough for solitude from others, but close enough that renting both can make sense to have lots of room for four and enough space for six! We’re planning to clear a small path through the woods between the two spaces. Until then, it’s a 3 minute walk down a small hill through the woods and ferns or a 5 minute drive between the two cabins.
