- > Nature abounds in this lakeside retreat. The rustic cabin is a pet-friendly destination perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, couple’s getaways, fall color tours & restful escapes to truly unplug. ->There’s a lovely screened in gazebo, nice swimming, scenic views & perfect stargazing. -> 7 miles from Craig Lake State Park, 40 miles from Marquette, 58 miles from Houghton. -> Please read the entire description & message with questions. + THE HIGHLIGHTS + ->The location, swimming, screened in gazebo, a gas grill, fire pit and gorgeous views make this a natural sanctuary not to be missed! ->A well stocked kitchen (guest favorites include the waffle maker with Bob's Red Mill waffle mix and stocked coffee and tea bar) and sleeping for six makes this cabin cozy for a variety of groups. -> Amenities list breakfast is included. We provide oatmeal, waffle mix, a waffle maker. You will have to cook them, though - we don’t prepare them for you as we aren’t on site. Thank you for understanding ->Can't do stairs? No problem. Enjoy main floor living with the bathroom and comfy pull out sofa for two (new in 2022). -> This spot on the lake boasts outstanding Sunsets nearly every night and the Northern Lights are seen here numerous times throughout the year. On clear nights the moon and stars are phenomenal. -> Outside, you’ll find a private screened gazebo and deck (our favorite parts of this property) over the water to enjoy the gorgeous water views with your morning coffee, afternoon cocktail or a good book. ->UPDATES COMING IN 2023: lake floats; memory foam mattresses upstairs; welcome snacks and bottled water; cell phone solar chargers +MORE DETAILS BELOW+ The updated kitchen includes dishware, silverware, pots and pans plus a stocked coffee and tea bar. We also provide towels, toiletries, bed linens, blankets and pillows. There are kitchen (appliances, coffee pot, tea kettle, waffle maker, mixer, pots, pans, etc.) and pantry items (oil, vinegar, spices, flour, sugar, pasta, oatmeal, tin foil, saran wrap, etc.) for you to use. We try to keep a good variety of non-perishables. You will need to bring your own perishable items and groceries (think meat, veggies, fruit, butter, eggs, milk, etc.). There is a newly remodeled bathroom downstairs with a shower. There is no air conditioning but we do have fans :-) The upstairs has an open floor plan for sleeping. This is typically ideal for most of our guests as it sleeps many people. However if your group staying upstairs is timid about sharing, our space may not be right for you. We do, however, have a pull out couch downstairs that allows for main floor living for two people. PET FRIENDLY: With Preapproval of the pet and a one time Pet fee. On site parking is available. You’ll have the entire cottage and property to yourself. We are available via text or Airbnb messenger should you need anything. There is a printed welcome book at the cottage with all of our favorite places to eat, hike and sightsee. It also has suggested day trips. We have 100 feet of lake frontage on Ruth Lake, which boasts 192 acres with a depth of 36 feet and has public access a mile from the cabin via the highway. It is lovely for swimming and fishing from our dock. Species: Bluegill, SmallMouth Bass, LargeMouth Bass, Northern Pike, Rock Bass, Walleye and Yellow perch. Snowmobile/ATV rail #8 is just down the road and Craig Lake State Park is 7 miles away. The nearest convenience store is 3.5 miles away. We are 40 miles to Marquette and 60 miles to Houghton. The only way to get around is by your own vehicle. + EXPECTATIONS - PLEASE READ + -> Wi-Fi is not listed as an amenity. We do have satellite internet, which is the most reliable option this far north. However, it goes in and out so it’s not listed as an amenity. ->This is a rustic log cabin. We have made improvements but it’s still an old cabin, to be frank. The accommodations are not luxurious but the location and views are fantastic. It’s also in a wooded area in rural Michigan on a lake. Imagine it’s glamping with indoor plumbing, a stove, fridge, coffee and WiFi that works most of the time. People typically find that idea exciting or dreadful. If you are the former, this is perfect for you! If you are the latter, a hotel room or apartment in town is probably better suited for your tastes. -> We think it’s gorgeous but depending on the time of year, there might be ladybugs, mosquitos, spiders, flies or crickets. The errant chipmunk (or other wildlife which we can't control) may also be doing laps around the property :-) -> We do have a pest company use chemical free, pet friendly spray which helps tremendously with bugs. However, there still might be some bugs. -> I say all of this not to be rude. We've taken great care and time to add numerous details and personal touches to this cabin. We look forward to coming here a few times a year to unplug and recharge! -> However, we don't want you to plan a vacation here only to be disappointed because you were expecting one thing and got another. -> If you have any questions prior to booking please don’t hesitate to send me a message. + GROCERIES, GAS & OTHER ITEMS+ There is the Michigamme Market three miles from the cottage if you need to pick up a few things. I am continuously impressed with this little market. They have fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, cold sandwiches, fresh bakery items, pantry items, a variety of food supplies (shelf and frozen) and other staples. They also have beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes and gas. There’s also Pat’s Grocery Store in L’Anse which is about 30 minutes away.
